This position can be located in Raritan, NJ; Titusville, NJ; Springhouse, PA; Horsham, PA; or Beerse, Belgium. Remote work locations may be considered.

The Associate Director, External Alliances will develop and maintain effective and wide ranging supplier relationships and working framework.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Become outsourcing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support trial teams working with various for supplier types.
• Support management of procedural documents and alliance related materials to align with internal process where possible.
• Process improvement identification and workstream support to ensure consistency across Janssen Global Clinical Development organization for multiple supplier types.
• Track studies to link for process alignment and process awareness and trending.
• Liaise with other functions supported by Strategic Alliance Clinical Research Organizations (CROs) to identify and execute process enhancement (i.e. flex, RE, safety) to promote process alignment.
• Partner with internal Janssen functions to support outsourcing initiatives to ensure proper process alignment for successful relationship.
• Drive metrics collection and business intelligence processes facilitating the decision support processes at the various Janssen Business partner’s leadership levels. Ensure anticipation of problem areas, opportunities and threats.
• Review status with trial teams, identify trends and make recommendations for alliance, begin to define and train other supplier type metrics.
• Continuously monitor and assess metrics to ensure CRO/supplier performance meeting expectations and deliverables are measurable and evaluate for process improvement as needed based on metric output.
• Maintain activities related to the setup of a Sourcing Portal for supplier tools and processes.
• Serve as contact point for trial teams when working with suppliers.
• Onboard new study teams in alliance model and connect throughout project life cycle
• Support trials governed under the POM through by ensuring the Transition Team is adequately supporting the business in transitioning to the new way of work.
• Active involvement in process implementation and support of the alliance strategies.
• Identify and resolve operational problems that may arise in development, finalization, and implementation of the activities.
Qualifications
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Scientific discipline. Advanced degree (Masters, MBA, MD, PhD) preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience is required.
• Project management experience is required.
• Experience in managing external stakeholders/vendors (CROs, central lab, etc.) is required.
• Clinical trial management experience is required.
• Knowledge of the use of key performance metrics and quality indicators preferred.
• Experience in operational activities in a global development environment is required.
• Experience with key customers business processes and practices preferred.
• Experience with the overall drug development process is preferred.
• Knowledge of process design principles preferred.
• Global experience is preferred.
• Must have excellent communication, presentations and interpersonal skills.
• Must have strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• The ability to collaborate with all levels and build strategic working relationships is required.
• This position will require up to 20% domestic and international travel.
