Vice President - Marketing & Merchandising - Portland, OR
The Vice President - Marketing & Merchandising, along with the team of 7, is the owner of the product P&Ls and is responsible for all strategic and tactical aspects of branding, marketing communications, product launch and management, and the various aspects of merchandising. This individual works collaboratively and shares top line responsibility with New Product Development, Operations, and Sales -- driving strong brand awareness of Ann Sacks, creating a product portfolio that is innovative and inspirational, delivering an exceptional customer experience, and managing effective end-to-end product life cycles.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Quickly get up to speed on the business strategy and all the initiatives that are occurring in marketing and product development/management as well as in the other parts of the organization that are instrumental in delivering on the strategy.
• Become a leader in the organization to drive a culture shift that includes accountability, curiosity and trust while maintaining positive aspects of being entrepreneurial. Leading by example and with managerial courage is critical to a successful change.
• Create development plans for each of the team members and empower them to thrive in a culture of accountability.
• Lead the launch of the new ecommerce channel.
• Become a champion for the customer, ensuring all aspects of product, sales, operations, and customer touch points are aligned with the Ann Sacks brand.
• Cultivate the customer centric approach – effectively data mining to understand customer segments and building programs to drive acquisition, retention and loyalty.
• Continue to drive growth through innovation and integration across channels. Focus areas include shifting the media mix to be aligned with strategy and intended customer engagement; shifting from being only trade focused to target the dealer and DTC channels; expanding growth geographically beyond those markets that have an Ann Sacks showroom; and ensuring a seamless experience regardless of channel.
• Build a strong and collaborative relationship with the leadership team, staying focused on key strategies and executing on them together as a team.
• Maintain and champion the brand vision – positioning Ann Sacks as a design partner in the market.
• Work collaboratively with the Director of Product Development to evaluate the market, identify opportunity for innovation, and merchandise product effectively in the market. Own the business aspect of that innovation and merchandising – being accountable for all aspects of business cases, forecasts and P&Ls.
Experience Required
The candidate must have strong leadership experience in merchandising/product management which includes P&L ownership and leading the go-to-market process. Strong skills in financial management, end-to-end product life cycle management, inventory management, and assortment planning are required. Having experience developing and managing to key business metrics is important. The candidate will have worked closely with the marketing and visual merchandising organizations and be well versed in the functions. Having worked with products and for a company that are design centric is critical to success.

The successful candidate must thrive in a highly collaborative environment and be able to both lead and be hands-on simultaneously. He/she must be highly analytical and organized. Having strong leadership skills, which include being inspirational and making difficult decisions, are required. Being able to build credibility leveraging both experience and data is critical. The candidate will be a good listener, get buy-in using data, and work with a sense of urgency. Being a self starter and taking initiative are imperative. The candidate will have a passion for design and relating design and brand to the customer.

Education
Undergraduate degree is required. An MBA is preferred.
