Wizards is looking for a Creative Lead to help grow our digital licensing business. The Creative Lead is an experienced industry professional, capable of driving quality and design across multiple titles, but also working with the Creative Director to innovate the standards, processes, and structures of Wizards through broad-reaching initiatives. Key to this is driving creative vision and product design for licensed digital games, in partnership with WOTC Game Studios creative leadership to evolve an overall WOTC Digital Licensing Game presence.
Working with external teams of game, narrative and UX design, art and audio talent to define and maintain Wizard’s quality bar, this creative leader possesses expert communication and negotiation skills, overseeing both external development partners as well as consulting on internal production efforts; furthermore, they can adapt management and communication styles to accommodate multiple challenging situations and personalities, often across multiple cultures.
They find innovative new ways to push the sensory direction of interactive entertainment. A champion of quality, first and foremost, their deep experience in design and art production for mobile and PC games also facilitates collaboration with Development, Production, Marketing, and externals to deliver world-class features and ideas on schedule and within budget.
Self-directed, proactive, and a focused multi-tasker, the Creative Lead demonstrates tactical thinking as it relates to the creative functions of the organization; this role is important in establishing frameworks to invest in (and promote) the quality of both projects and people alike.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS WIZARD
Product Ownership
•Oversee creative digital licensing translation of Wizards various IPs
1.Ensure creative consistency and design
2.Oversees the review, comments and approval of milestone submissions.
3.Safeguard external development usage of franchise IP ensuring it conforms to all standards and guidelines.
4.Influence and guide external developers/partners in best practices of digital design and UX implementations for various form factors.
•Own creative vision for assigned products, balancing the product needs with the business needs.
1.Maintain creative alignment between the CD and development partners
2.Ensure creative quality at all levels of the product from art to audio to design
3.Work with project SMEs to leverage and improve production pipelines, people and processes to drive velocity and quality with increasing effectiveness
•Work with internal development to ensure consistency between internal products, publishing platform and digital licensing products
1.Drive creative vision and product design for externally licensed digital games
2.Work with WOTC game studios creative SMEs to evolve WOTC digital game presence
Product Strategy & Advocacy
•Build AAA games via understanding of best in breed analytics, creative, product, talent and user experience design
•Team Player – Collaborate with all levels within the organization to assist in solving higher level complex design issues.
Prior Related Experience:
•Prior experience within publishing organizations and external development methodologies.
•8+ years in Creative Lead or similar position, with proven track record of managing large teams to success, as well as building/maintaining art production schedules
•Prior experience with freemium and/or free-to-play economies by direct involvement in live game monetization of a shipped AAA game or Top 50 mobile game
•Prior experience in bringing highly valuable established entertainment brands to AAA online games
•Prior leadership experience including significant exposure to senior levels of management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Strong experience in overseeing published game titles, live services, and games as a service across multiple client platforms
•Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both verbal and written; able to present difficult and creative concepts in a clear and concise manner
•Understanding and experience with content creation software, game engines and project management tools.
•Thorough understanding of all aspects of game development process, from design methodology to craftsmanship and production
•Self-directed, proactive, and a focused multi-tasker, the Creative Lead demonstrates tactical thinking as it relates to the creative functions of the organization; this role is important in establishing frameworks to invest in (and promote) the quality of both projects and people alike
•Working knowledge of various online game monetization practices
•A track record in building highly effective interpersonal business relationships and generating business in a highly matrixed organization
•Appreciation for data-driven design through analysis and quick iteration
•Solid understanding of usability, flow and UI design for touch screens
•Knowledge of the mobile/tablet free-to-play gaming trends and competition
•Adaptability and ability to collaborate and lead a distributed team
•Enjoys an interactive and agile work environment and collaborates well with various work styles
