The Associate Repair Shop Manager is responsible for the co-management of second shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM) Furniture Repair Shop associates. This is a working manager positon. It oversees the repair and refurbishment of damaged rental product to bring it back to established quality standards and the manufacturing of new rental furniture. This position is responsible for safety, training, quality control, and meeting daily productivity goals. It requires daily documentation and reporting of second shift activity, progress and issues.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following activities. On occasion will serve as the back up to the Repair Shop Manager. Other duties may be assigned.
Production Responsibilities
• Conduct daily start of shift meeting including exercise program.
• Maintain Furniture Shop in an organized and safe manner.
• Manufacture of new furniture as assigned (Processes include removal and replacement of laminates and upholstery)
• Generate and track shop reports as assigned:
1. Repaired/manufactured pieces.
2. Quality Control and cause analysis.
3. Material requisitions.
4. Barcodes
• Administer E2 tracking software program.
Financial Responsibility for the District
• Manage to the Shop budget.
• Assist Shop Manager in creating shop budget.
Managerial Responsibilities
• Daily management of at least six (6) repair/refinisher associates.
• Mediate and resolve employee relations issues/concerns.
• Train, and mentor personnel to maximize their potential.
• Set an example of professional conduct for all employees.
• Utilize progressive discipline as needed and conduct performance appraisals
Qualifications
• High school degree with two to four years related experience and/or training in management and furniture repair; or equivalent combination of education and managerial and furniture repair experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions. Ability to understand and complete production related forms and reports. Written and verbal English fluency. Spanish a plus but not essential.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dimensions, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Created budgets, monitor business and create interventions based upon budget information.
• Understands the basics of inventory management.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Expertise in furniture repair and manufacture of case goods and upholstery.
• Experience with woodworking machinery, power and hand held tools.
• Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
• Comfortable making public and group presentations.
• Ability to create, review and communicate standard operating procedures.
• Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
