General Summary:Leadership responsibilities for the Supply and Demand planning function overseeing the daily business while driving business initiatives identified in the Sales and Operations Planning process. The Director will lead a combined group of Supply and Demand Planners that are category aligned with primary performance metrics targeting improved service, cost, and cash/working capital results. Supply Responsibilities include the overall guidance and development of a six month Master Production Schedule using sophisticated planning systems and related people/business process. The MPS must insure targeted inventories of finished goods are maintained so that targeted order fill rates are achieved while balancing inventory goals. This role will work closely with Sales and Commercial stakeholders on the development and input of a collaborative forecast as a basis for S&OP.
Essential Functions:
• Develop and lead the Supply and Demand Planning teams in all functions related to Supply Chain;
• Responsible for hiring and developing top Supply Chain level talent;
• Monitor Manufacturing Plants to ensure production schedules achieve targeted inventory levels through sustainable Production Attainment/Schedule Compliance metrics and related business process;
• Develop and implement reporting tools to facilitate the overall S&OP process through data driven approach using source planning & ERP systems;
• Drive continuous improvement mindset with Supply & Demand Planning business process;
• Develop and maintain process documentation and standard operating procedures for supply & Demand Planning processes and systems;
• Primary Supply Chain Planning leadership contact for new product development, promotions and communication of service/inventory status for assigned product categories;
• Monitor and lead customer interface for all Contract/ Private Label customer Supply Chain business deliverables;
• Primary point of contact for Commercial Stakeholders on daily business tactics and initiatives;
• Develop, maintain, and communicate 3-6 Month time-phased Production, Sales, and Inventory Plan for all assigned product categories;
• Balance production capacity at assigned internal and external manufacturing facilities to ensure performance metrics and business deliverables are met;
• Lead Supply Chain SKU rationalization efforts to ensure item portfolio is optimized to meet company financial goals;
• Analyze production specifications and capacity data while performing systematic calculations to determine production planning parameters and related planning business process;
• Monitor material supply and alert others to potential shortages and/or identification of long inventory position;
• Ensure that planning recommendations are being followed routinely and take into account customer needs, demand variance, raw material inventory, and plant capacity;
• Lead and communicate with Product Supply and Commercial Executives on business initiatives and deliverables;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities;
• Possess “Big Picture" Operations/Supply Chain knowledge;
• Excellent time management skills to manage business growth in rapid innovation environment;
• Self-motivated, organized, creative with proven leadership skills;
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Team & people oriented, professional while always displaying a “can-do" attitude;
Education/Experience:
• Bachelors of Science Degree from accredited University. MBA a Plus;
• Four year degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations or related area;
• A minimum of ten years of supply chain or related experience;
• Background in Master Scheduling, Materials Mgt., Demand Planning, and S&OP;
• Strong knowledge of Supply Planning process. Consumer Packaged Goods Industry experience is a plus;
• Knowledge of Supply management tools, Manufacturing and Supply Chain business process;
• Extensive spreadsheet/reporting analytics and strong mathematical abilities;
• APICS certification preferred;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with ERP / SAP Experience
