Job Purpose/Overview
The Global Category Director is responsible to lead and develop renewable energy strategies and projects throughout the globe. The role indirectly manages, develops, engages and leads a team of regional operations, regional strategic sourcing, CART analysts and procurement consultants and is an active leader on the Renewable Energy Committee. The Committee has been formed to deliver 40% GHG emission targets by 2020 and ultimately 100% Renewable Energy by 2040. He/She is also responsible for managing the procurement of the indirect goods and/or services with the primary focus on strategy creation and execution to drive long-term competitive advantage and supply security by maximizing value for money in the Renewable Energy Category. The role leads the alignment of internal stakeholders across regions and different functions in order to enable the team to embed the sourcing strategies. He/she sponsors and leads the implementation and use of key commercial signature processes (e.g. responsible sourcing, supplier performance relationship management, etc.). He/She also leads the negotiation of renewable energy projects for Mars, Inc. with support from the regional operations and sourcing resources.
Key Responsibilities
1- Active leader on the Renewable Energy Committee and responsible for engaging with Corporate Staff in McLean, functional VPs, GMs, consultants and/or other innovative suppliers in an effort to drive the category for Commercial globally
2- Negotiates national, complex and at times long-term renewable energy contracts with the help of sourcing, operations and CART team members
3- Responsible for Category Management of Renewables Energy, which includes developing sourcing strategies using the MSSM framework and tools appropriate for the market category, developing category plans and performing Commercial activities
4- Drives the application of a wide range of sourcing and operation tools (e.g. negotiation, e-procurement, strategic collaboration, sustainable sourcing, responsible sourcing, etc.) to select and allocate business to suppliers in line with category and acts as an escalation point for critical issues (e.g. disputes that threaten continuity of supply, termination of major suppliers, suppliers causing late delivery of projects)
5- Leads Commercial activities globally: securing price, capacity and service levels in line with commitments to the business, by ensuring effective risk management of the supply base, through robust contracts and monitoring of financial and other KPIs.
6 - Establishes Commercial governance in line with the commercial manual, specifically in the area of strategy, business allocation and contract approvals and reviews.
7- Key contact for senior relationships with suppliers; driving Supplier Relationship Management as needed
8- Leads the regional annual sourcing plan process and provides input to the Commercial Leadership Team
9- Develops talent and drives engagement within the category

1. Education & Professional Qualification
Bachelor / Master degree preferred
Fluent in English
2. Knowledge/Experience
8 years or more of professional experience, at least one role in Commercial (sourcing)
PRM experience preferred
