Job Description
Position Description:
A Vice President of Purchasing is responsible for managing the purchasing function for the division.
Position responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
• Product procurement, inventory turns, pricing, and product returns
• Working with sales staff to grow the business
• Product expertise and marketing
• Vendor relationship building
• Customer satisfaction and customer contract management
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other departments,
• Hiring and training of procurement staff
• Attend and participate in company events, customer meetings and other meetings as required.
Essential skills and experience:
• College Degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years experience in management role
• 3-5 years experience in purchasing, and preferably in the food distribution industry
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Working knowledge of sources of supplies, price trend and grades or quality of material and products
• Working knowledge of laws and ordinances governing the purchase of goods and services
