Associate Director, US Beauty Squad Lead
Johnson & Johnson Group of Consumer Companies is recruiting for an Associate Director, US Beauty Squad Lead to be located in Los Angeles, CA

Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Global Strategic Insights works with the Sr Director and the US Squad Marketing leader to develop local insights and guide all aspects of Innovation, Integrated Marketing Communication, Portfolio and Performance Analytics and Consumer Closeness on the Beauty Franchise in the US Market. This person manages all aspects of the market research, social listening, desk research, and business insights and analytics for global and regional brands and special operations projects as defined. He/she will manage all aspects of overall US Beauty innovation market research and business analytics for Regionally-led new and existing brands. This person will be the primary point person for US Beauty initiative volume forecasts, initiative maximization and initiative sense and respond; Integrated Marketing Communication activation including Media planning support (e.g., MMM), Campaign monitoring, Shopper/Shelf performance including Path to Purchase/Consumer journey/touchpoints and connections planning activities. This position directs local (US) and some regional initiatives (North America) for Beauty. Direct reporting line is to the GSIA Beauty Sr Director and the US business Squad Lead for Beauty Special Ops.
• Is the authority on the US Beauty Special Operations, influencing US business strategies to deliver against critical business objectives and longer term marketing strategy
• Develop and deliver research, analytics and integrated learning plans to address key business issues in line with annual business plans and longer-term US/NA Plans
• Identify and address customer opportunities that help J&J top –tier mass retailers grow.
• Lead syndicated, panel analyses and multi-data source integration to form actionable, complete, and coherent recommendations
• Leverages Analytics to understand NA Beauty business drivers and predict business growth
• Champions US input to maximize global initiative success:
◦ Contribute NPD and Commercial innovation insights/ideas
◦ Validate and Maximize Initiative Size/Valuation
◦ Identify regional prime prospects and (competitive) sources of volume
◦ Efficiently and effectively leverages learning on claims, MMM/ROI, and creatives
◦ Feed Base and NPD plans with price, promotion, mix, sales rate and shelving insights – regionally nuanced requirements of channels/shoppers
• Leads Franchise/Base Brand Growth Framework for the Region incl. shopper barriers to trial, claims development strategy; identifying Prime Prospects and Sources of Volume; Competitive NPD and performance; NPD success and performance optimization
• Conducts work in line with GSIA principles outlined within the GSIA OGSM
• Integrates best practice learning and global standards
• Uses knowledge of key macro trends, consumer, market and competitive landscape
• Leads and applies understanding of brand/marketing fundamentals
• Uses broader range of research tools/resources/processes, including social listening and desk research
• Develops and delivers the most appropriate research and analytic plan to address business needs
• Acts as a business partner, not just a market research specialist
• Goes into trenches of research design and method development, data, reports and analytics, consumer immersions
• Integrates knowledge from multiple sources and creates meaningful interpretations and recommendations that address business issues;
• Influences others in the implementation of action steps to drive the business
• Guides business to an objective, consumer-centric, data-based viewpoint
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree is required; Post-graduate degree or equivalent in Market Research, Social Sciences or Statistics or Data Sciences is preferred
• A minimum of 8 years professional work experience is required
• A minimum of 6 years of progressed experience in Market Research, Data Science/Analytics, preferably in a consumer marketing or manufacturing company is required
• Familiarity with syndicated point of sales data is required
• Understanding of social listening platforms is required
• Technical market research and analytical expertise and conversant in a range of quantitative and qualitative, business analytics, ad hoc research techniques and syndicated business analyses is required
• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and upper management
• Outstanding communication skills; Ability to think analytically to understand complex or ambiguous problems or issues and communicate solutions/conclusions clearly and concisely
• Highly strategic business knowledge with ability to use judgment and risk-taking
• Capable of creating one’s own agenda and deliverables in ambiguity is required
• Strong track record of leadership in matrixed environment is required
• Consumer Packaged Goods experience preferable
• Up to 10% domestic travel is required
