Position Overview:
Function Specific Activities:
The Director, Connection Planning & Media Investments is responsible for providing critical thinking and thought leadership for the Sparkling Flavors business unit. He/She will report to the Group Director, Connections Planning & Media Investment.
The role is responsible, in partnership with Brand Marketers, Creative Partners, Customer Teams, and Bottling Partners, for determining how to best spend a brand’s direct marketing expenditures (DME) to build best in class connection plans across paid, earned, owned, and shared media. They will do this by understanding and interpreting marketing mix learning, consumer insights, and industry and marketplace knowledge.
This person is able to link business strategy to communications strategy and translate the communication strategy into an optimal connections plan. This role also provides the vision and connections strategy that is fully integrated with Core Creative Ideas across Owned/Earned/Shared/Paid channels to deliver brand objectives while deriving greater impact from our advertising and integrated communication efforts for priority brands.
He or She will look over at least one (1) direct report, while directing the negotiations of all paid media investments for the Sparkling Flavors Brands against national and/or local media (Broadcast, Print, Online, Radio, OOH, etc), Customer Media (In-Store, PRN), Social Listening, Mobile and Search efforts in partnership and with the support of agencies (Media agency, Social agencies, Search agency, etc).
Function Specific Activities:
• Experienced in media planning and buying; management of investment strategy across online and offline channels.
• Lead and manage external agency partners. Serve as the day-to-day management of agency deliverables. Be the internal team’s “go-to” for all connection and media planning questions and deliverables.
• Interprets business and consumer data to develop insightful solutions to business problems. Translates business objectives and priorities into strategic briefs that guide the agency’s direction.
• Identify, design, negotiate, and execute integrated marketing media programs that include the development of branded content. Work with internal cross-functional team leads across Legal, Business Affairs, IMC Content, and Public Relations, to flawlessly execute programs.
• Actively participate in key brand and customer cross functional planning process
• Understand and able to simply communicate complex trends in the media landscape and consumer media behaviour.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Related Work Experience:10-15 years
Preferred Qualifications: Strategic thinking, strategy and brand development, marketing experience, has worked in areas of communication beyond paid media (e.g. PR, Shopper Marketing, etc.), knowledge of current trends/pop culture, experience in marketing and branding of lifestyle or entertainment brands, knowledge of data and programmatic buying, content/social media knowledge.
