Position Overview:To manage the International Accounting Research team and provide technical accounting guidance / support to field personnel. Ensure that the Company’s books and records are in compliance with U.S. GAAP and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements. Provide technical accounting guidance to the Company’s senior financial management, field operations and Corporate Headquarters on complex business transactions.
Function Specific Activities:
Responsibilities:
• Lead team of international Accounting Research managers
• Perform research, provide consultation, and prepare/review documentation for certain complex accounting issues for the Company’s files and the external auditors. Assist field financial management in addressing complex technical accounting issues.
• Analyze and propose proper accounting for mergers and acquisitions activities.
• Review/approve requests for authorization (RFAs) in order to identify any underlying accounting issues and to determine the appropriate treatment.
• Assist the financial reporting group with quarterly/annual financial reporting requirements (including the accounting treatment for unusual transactions, selected footnote data, etc.).
• Implement new accounting standards and participate in the establishment of internal accounting policies.
• Address other ad hoc requests, as necessary.
Qualifications:
• Certified Public Accountant
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required (Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred).
• Minimum of 11 years of accounting, auditing, and external financial reporting experience required.
• “Big 4” accounting and auditing experience working with large SEC registrants required.
• Experience in accounting and SEC reporting in industry can complement “Big 4” experience.
• Experience with companies in consumer products industry is beneficial.
• Strong technical accounting and research skills. Experience in VIE analysis, acquisitions and divestitures, impairment analysis, revenue recognition, etc.
• Ability to understand complex/unusual transactions, research the relevant technical accounting guidance, and interpret and apply the guidance to the specific transactions.
• Ability to view a transaction from multiple angles to ensure appropriate guidance is applied.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Foreign language skills are beneficial.
Educational Requirements:
• CPA and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
