Overview
Harman’s IGNITE is an end to end cloud solution that allows automakers to easily introduce a range of connected car services. Harman is currently in midst of delivery of the solution to a number of global automotive OEMs and wireless carriers. Organizationally the IGNITE team is divided into two groups: Product Development, and Customer Delivery. While the Product Development organization is tasked with delivering a generic, the Customer Delivery organization is tasked with development of customized elements, as well as integration with customer subsystems to deliver an integrated solution that meets Harman’s customer needs. Harman is looking for a leader that will head the program management team for the customer delivery organization. This is a strategic position as ensuring successful Ignite customer deliveries will be crucial in ensuring IGNITE’s continued market success.
Key Qualifications
• Program/project management experience in delivering complex cloud-based projects.
• Agile certification.
• Software development experience.
• Creative thinker; will devise and implement processes that allow for a global delivery and development organization, and varying end-customer requirements.
• Detail oriented yet has the ability to step back and grasp the big picture.
• 10+ experience in the automotive domain, preferably in connected services
• Experience planning, managing, delivering medium (6-8 month) to large (8-12+ month) projects.
• Direct management experience.
• Experience dealing with international stakeholders.
• Excellent communication across project and management teams.
• Excellent leadership skills that enhance project team effectiveness.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Literacy with leading online program management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jazz, and GIT. Able to generate automated reports. Master with Microsoft project.
Responsibilities
• Quickly come up to speed for a critical OEM customer delivery project.
• Hands on; the candidate will roll-up the sleeve and contribute. Although this is a senior director role, and candidate will manage a small team of program managers, we expect the candidate to contribute at an individual level.
• Work in a matrix structure with the customer delivery and product development organizations to manage an end to end delivery plan.
• Lead the definition and enforcement of a process that will operationalize delivery of IGNITE globally in 5 regions for a demanding customer. Develop range of operational metrics to track the project and ensure on-time delivery.
• Provide timely updates and elevate critical risks to management and senior- executive teams, and C-level customer stakeholders.
• Select and hire a small team. Train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel actions
Education
Bachelor’s degree required, MS preferred. Technical background, preferably in software development.
