Position at Pilgrim's
Core Roles and Responsibilities:
• Lead the technical services team for Pilgrim's that includes team of fresh and prepared chicken focused technical services staff, portioning manager and research & technology manager
• Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with cross functional teams including QA, plants as well as fresh and prepared BU leadership to solve key business issues and drive profitable growth
• Coach the team on data driven decision making, including effective collection and monitoring of metrics used to assess, prioritize and select improvement projects
• Work directly with licensees by providing support on technical and/or quality issues;
• Lead the fresh and prepared technical services team in investigating and troubleshooting quality and manufacturing issues to drive cost reductions, improve quality, consistency and food safety
• Coach portioning manager and his team in executing strategies that are aligned with the business strategy
• Visit manufacturing locations and maintain regular communication with cross functional stakeholders
• Provide oversight for the development and execution of internal & external research programs designed to deliver new technologies and products to drive growth for the different business units
• Drive strategic alliances with external research organizations and key technology / equipment companies in the field of food processing

• Results oriented, taking accountability for objectives, timelines and successful performance, to meet corporate objectives
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop personnel via direct management experience
• Proven success working well with cross functional peers, especially Marketing, Operations, QA and Regulatory.
• Proven team leadership skills, including high-performance team-building, facilitation and consensus building
• Solid problem solving skills, well versed in formal problem solving methods such as DMAIC, Six Sigma, Fact Based Decision Making, etc.
• Skilled at speaking up regularly, with confidence and poise, assertively, tactfully and respectively, to influence and collaborate with cross functional peers, subordinates and executives
Education and Experience:
• Masters in Food Sciences, Technology, or Chemical Engineering
• 15+ years’ progressive experience in R&D and technical services leading teams
• Experience in prepared foods, poultry /protein highly preferred
