Iris Business Development and Operations Director
Job Description
The Iris Business Development and Operations Director will be responsible for managing selected Iris Smart Home initiatives that will help Lowe's achieve its long-term growth objectives in the Smart Home / Internet of Things market. The primary activities of the role include:
• Delivering sales growth through subscriber acquisition, Iris product sales, and recurring monthly revenue
• Leading the marketing strategy and execution for Iris across all channels, including customer communication, relationship management, irisbylowes.com’s digital experience, social media, and the Product Marketing function
• Analyzing and synthesizing consumer needs and business strategic priorities
• Identifying and define new revenue-generating business opportunities both internal and external to Lowe's, including the design, development, and execution of complete business models
• Overseeing the day-to-day Customer Support activities for Iris including management of L1-L2 support, creation of self-help content, and triage of customer issues
• Developing engagement strategies for stores and third party channels, including training content development and execution
The Iris Business Development and Operations Director will seek out, grow, and manage external channel partnerships for Iris, with a specific focus on broadening the distribution of Iris products, services, and data. A desired end-state would be an Iris distribution portfolio that comprises multiple brick and mortar and digital only properties, multi-family channel customers, international expansion, and data monetization relationships that align with Lowe's purpose to "help customers love where they live". This will require a strong combination of creative thinking and business acumen as the individual is called upon to build new business and operating models in line with evolving customer needs. The Director will take projects from inception through to execution by leading their team and working cross-functionally both internally and externally.
While growing the business, the Iris Business Development and Operations Director will need to remain focused on the development and on-going operations of the Iris business within the Lowe's channel and across all Iris customer support touch points. The incumbent will manage a team of direct and indirect reports, and use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to continuously optimize operations and deliver superior value to our associates and our customers.
The Director will be a broad strategic thinker and be responsible for shaping the long term strategy in this segment. He/She will have a working knowledge of retail and .com sales channels, digital development, merchandising, finance, store operations, customer support, crisis management, marketing, and customer relationship management; as well as understanding of how the broader smarter home competitive space goes to market.
Minimum Qualifications:
• MBA and 8-10 years of experience in business development, home services, or emerging technology segments. (Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, home services, or
emerging technology segments.)
• A broad understanding of SaaS business models and challenges.
• An understanding and knowledge of consumer behavior related to the home improvement industry and
the smart home space.
• Experience working with and managing external partners in order to create value and grow new sales
channels.
• A track record in business development with a proven ability to define and deliver new concepts.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization to create alignment and ensure execution of around agreed upon strategies.
• Experience developing business cases and scorecards for evaluation and on-going performance management of new initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing and growing a business from inception to profitability.
• Experience in emerging technology.
• Experience in US retail or home improvement services.
