Sr. Director Operations BG Ultrasound
In this role, we challenge you to:
Drive the operational strategy and execution for the Business Group (BG) Ultrasound, a dynamic and growing global business with revenues of ~ $1.5B. You will lead an “End to End” integrated supply chain and operations including manufacturing, supply Chain, S&OP and productivity, providing significant value towards the BG performance. You define and execute a robust operations strategic roadmap, including decision making and change management regarding industrial footprint, CM and ODM partnerships, lifecycle strategy, and integration/collaboration with adjacent product operations in Philips enterprise. Specifically, you will drive an initiative to leverage partners in non-core component, systems manufacturing from what is currently a highly captive operation. In concert, you will drive achievement of a significant cost reduction objective. You drive operational excellence by setting benchmark performance measures and managing performance against metrics to ensure efficiency, cost effectiveness, quality and regulatory.
You will lead a world-class, agile and reliable “engine” that satisfies the operational needs of the Ultrasound BG and will deliver on improvement of execution in all operational functions, provide strong functional leadership throughout the entire organization, and strengthen operational capabilities at all levels. The role has significant interfaces with product development engineering, procurement, quality and regulatory, and commercial operation across geographies.
You are responsible for:
• End-to-end Ultrasound operations/SCM activities including NPI, bill of material, order fulfillment, manufacturing footprint, customer satisfaction, product quality and reliability, and quality of business systems and processes. Manage in- and out-bound logistics, repair process and services, plan and demand management, order management etc.
• Work with Markets on delivery and project management excellence
• Support the Business Leader and Group Operations function in the development of strategic directions for BG operations that are full aligned. Collaborate to capture cross business synergies. Develop and drive execution for the operations strategy.
• Drive financial performance of all aspects of Operations / SCM, Productivity, including efficient utilization of resources and reduction of costs. Drive fact-based and financially sound investment decisions on all operations aspects for BG Ultrasound
• Ensure the development and implementation of world-class manufacturing / materials techniques allowing for maximum product configuration flexibility, product quality, quick order turn-around, high reliability and competitive pricing. Anticipates future developments regarding operations methods and processes and drives change and innovation in production practices.
• Ensure all appropriate business controls and regulatory processes are applied in conformance with Philips corporate policies and federal regulations in all countries Philips operates in.
• Drive cost reduction, BOM optimization, quality and customer experience improvement through DfX initiatives.
• Lead, coach, and develop an effective and well-motivated team covering all direct and indirect managers (I.e. Logistics, Procurement, Q&R, Engineering, etc.), both insourced and outsourced. Create a motivating and challenging climate for employees, while building the capability to enable increased performance.
• Represent Philips with customers, regulatory agencies and professional groups.
We are looking for:
• A minimum of 15 years’ experience spanning all relevant areas of manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, and quality – preferably in the medical device field.
• Experience in a regulated environment and clear understanding of leading quality and compliance across the organization strongly preferred. A strong understanding of the regulatory aspects of medical device manufacturing preferred.
• Demonstrable success in driving step-change improvement in (ideally highly regulated) mid-volume / high-mix operations environments of global scale.
• Demonstrated partnership and influencing qualities. Experience working collaboratively in a global matrix organization.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to lead a large and complex organization. Ability to positively lead and engage people and structurally develop capabilities.
• Proven track record of delivering operational results and leading organizations through transformation, re-vitalization, re-engineering etc. Demonstrated expertise and application of lean manufacturing management practices.
• Broad background across all relevant operations sub-functions including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain planning and S&OP, logistics and distribution, operations excellence and productivity (lean, six sigma), quality, procurement and sourcing.
• Broad global exposure, ideally demonstrating cross-functional and international career progression.
