Who we’re looking for
The TFS Treasury Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated National Manager (Director), Derivatives and Rates Desk. The Derivatives & Rates Desk is responsible for managing a $125 billion notional derivative portfolio with more than $40 billion in annual notional volume. The primary responsibility of this role is the hedging of TFS’ currency and interest rate risk. The candidate will be part of a team that will monitor interest rate, currency, commodity, equity and fixed income markets to drive cost-effective hedging strategies. The team will provide insight to the business regarding market developments that impact the company’s cost of funds. This role will lead a team of 2 and report to the General Manager, Head of Markets & Liquidity.
A successful candidate will bring 15-20+ years of progressive experience in generating hedging ideas and strategies along with experience in executing derivative transactions. This person will have comprehensive hedging experience across multiple areas including interest rate, cross currency and structured derivatives. They will have robust quantitative skills to support this role and will provide subject matter expertise to the organization including markets, trends, and regulations that will have an impact on TFS’ derivative activities, Treasury, and the broader organization.
What you’ll be doing
Management of Derivatives Programs
• Review and analyze the portfolio and recommend relative value opportunities
• Generate hedging strategy and execute to achieve targeted interest rate risk position
• Execute all hedges in connection with the issuance of vanilla, structured, and ABS/secured debt transactions
• Monitor interest rate, currency, commodity, equity and fixed income markets and the global economy generally in order to identify trends & develop market view
• Monitor and manage all derivative counterparty credit risk
• Support Legal with any developments in derivative regulations or ISDA documentation
Management of Rate Desk Function
• Manage support of various lines of business for any and all needed market inputs and intelligence including market color, interest rate trends, rate locks, prepayment calculations, new loan/product pricing, etc.
• Represent Treasury at Credit Committee and to provide insight into cost of funds and liquidity for dealer lending activities
• Present monthly Treasury updates to senior executives at ALCO meeting, including financial market updates, funding highlights, and current Treasury initiatives
Monitor Financial Regulations
• Monitor global regulatory landscape and potential impacts to TMCC Treasury activities
• Collaborate as needed with internal stakeholders to establish federal legislative and regulatory priorities for Treasury (CFPB, Dodd-Frank, etc.)
• Represent TMCC in lobbying efforts through industry trade groups and draft responses to regulator requests for comment letters (Captive Coalition, Financial Services Roundtable, etc.)
• Assess impact of and develop countermeasures to potential regulatory risks (SIFI, 90/90 exemption, etc.)
Qualifications
What you bring
• Masters/MBA or graduate degree in Finance, Economics or related discipline
• Hands on management, both strategy and execution of large scale, diversified derivatives programs exceeding $20B in notional trading volume
• Demonstrated ALM/ market risk management experience
• Expert knowledge and ability to articulate how macro-economic factors affect the market and the movement in interest rates
• Experience with the application of ISDA/CSAs protocols and other derivatives regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of Bloomberg, Numerix, Intex, Reuters, WallStreet Systems
• Experience with SQL, VBA, Tableau
