Job Summary
Provide strategic and tactical direction for all Global Ingredients Specialty Operations. Develops, determines, improves and assures operational strategies, standards, processes and tactical execution of all Specialty facilities. Create and extends Operational Excellence program to all levels of Specialty Operations to ensure a culture that drives out chronic losses and maximizes resources.
A key component of the job will be ensuring excellent execution of new technical platform strategy that supports and is led by the PSM organization while ensuring stable and efficient continuing operations. Enhance profitability through technology, innovative product development, process improvement, and customer support.
Key member of Global Product Supply Executive Leadership Team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)
• Responsible for the design, the planning, the execution, and control of a seamlessly integrated, fully leveraged set of operational assets and activities that deliver products and services that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Develops and implements global manufacturing strategies, standards, processes and tools to build and achieve industry leading key capabilities to ensure to manufacture product on time and cost competitive while meeting required quality standards and customer service levels.
• Ensure an effective S&OP process by partnering with Product Strategic Management and Commercial Teams to establish and execute annual / monthly / weekly supply, demand and operating plan in close cooperation with Supply Chain.
• Lead Specialty organization to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of operations; ensure the overall effectiveness of the end to end supply chain to create a strategic advantage for Glanbia Ingredients.
• Maximizes the synergies across GI´s facilities by leveraging the platform network to identify, define and deploy best practices in manufacture such as standards, processes, equipment, systems and tools.
• Ensure a culture across Operations that fully values individual safety.
• Ensure a Customer Centric culture across Operations that focuses on quality and food safety adherence as defined by Glanbia Quality Systems.
• Ensure a culture across Operations that values the communities in which they operate by creating best in class sustainable operations.
• Develops strategic action programs to achieve consistent Operational Excellence standards as defined by GPS across manufacturing facilities. Build ever improving Operations by leading and growing GPS system in all sites.
• Collaborate with Product Strategic Management, Engineering, Technical Services (Technology Platform Leaders), Supply Chain, Co-man Management, Plant Managers, Procurement, Quality, and Finance on asset management including long term management and evolution of the asset footprint (make vs. buy decisions) within and/or as an extension to existing facilities or as a geographic expansion to the current footprint .
• Collaborate with Product Strategic Management, Engineering, Technical Services (Technology Platform Leaders), Supply Chain, Co-man Management, Plant Managers, Procurement, Quality, and Finance on with PSM, Strategy COE, Engineering, Technical Services, and Supply Chain in developing Cheese and Whey Operational Strategy and corresponding CAPEX Plan.
• Ensure Leadership tactical execution of with Operational Strategy and CAPEX Plan.
• These are sophisticated manufacturing plants and this individual will have responsibility for managing and executing all capital and operating plans to ensure they are executed in a timely and on-budget manner.
• Promote and develop a sound environmental risk management and environmental strategy consistent with company policy, community responsiveness, and regulatory compliance that ensures the viability of Glanbia in the future.
• Lead the communication effort within operations. Develop a qualified, competent team of professionals across the organization in sync with the company’s succession planning objectives.
• Delivers product and services in line with agreed performance measures based on customer segmentation and product mix (complexity) for product quality, cost of manufacture, order fulfillment (i.e. flexibility, responsiveness, lead time)
• Defines and deploys a global set of KPIs / PIs
• Aligns organization and people to operational/plant KPIs / PIs
• Develops routines for reporting and forecasting for manufacturing performance and issue logs (yearly / monthly / weekly / daily / ad hoc)
• Controls on-going manufacturing and service performance to KPIs and drives for continuous improvements and global exchange of best practices between GI´s Operations
• Manages / oversees / leads the operational due diligence for geographic and/or technological expansion during a JV / make or buy decision making process
• Build, control, and execute annual and rolling budgets / forecasts with focus on production volumes, productivity (considering product mix complexity) increase, assets and Capex, Service Levels, Cost of Manufacturing and OEE
• Attract and develop top talents to build a best-in-class global blending organization.
• Grow and develop people´s skills and capabilities to build a strong global footprint in industry leading blending expertise
• Participates effectively as a member of the Global Product Supply ELT in developing and delivering strategies for organizational growth and development with a focus on manufacturing footprint and capabilities.

Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education, Training:
A minimum of bachelor’s degree in food and/or dairy science preferred or related discipline. A MA in business administration is highly desirable.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 15 to 20 years of progressively responsible operating and management experience in the food/dairy/pharmaceutical industry with prior plant management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Blending, Aseptic Filling, or food technology experience would be preferred.
• Better Process certification preferred.
• A demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and interpret financial data.
• Good intellectual capacity and a quick learner.
• A good corporate citizen in every aspect.
• Individual must exhibit a high level of professionalism and a commitment to a team approach. This in turn should instill similar values among those around him/her.
• Experienced operations/supply chain executive with the ability to manage business teams.
• Strong strategic capabilities, especially as it relates to growing a business.
• Ability to partner with other company divisions and joint venture relationships.
• Excellent influencing and communication skills.
• Dynamic, high energy individual with a strong work ethic.
Language, Computer& Numeracy:
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• English – fluent/proficient
• German – fluent/proficient
• Mandarin Chinese - proficiency helpful.
• Financial literacy to manage departmental budgets and expense controls

• Significant overnight travel (up to 60%) by land and/or air.
