Position Title: Director, Payroll and Benefits Services
Based in Boca Raton, Florida and reporting to the VP, HR Servicesand Operations, the Director, Payroll and Benefits Services is responsiblefor directing all aspects of Payroll Operations and Benefits Administration forapproximately 17,000 employees. This role will partner closely with theBenefits Center of Excellence and work closely with selected vendors to deliverexemplary service and innovative solutions. Additionally, this rolewill partner closely with other leaders and staff within HR Services to developand improve customer service and HR service delivery to employees of ADT.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day supervision of all components of Payroll and Benefit administration services to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Support and promote staff performance through effective leadership.
• Coordinate audit and compliance activities.
• Manage customer problem resolution and escalation.
• Identify and implement improvement programs with outsourcing service provider (ADP and Conduent formerly Xerox).
• Oversee departmental processes, procedures, and controls.
• Develop short- and long-term plans for continuous improvement in payroll operations and benefits administration.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure vendors are accountable for escalated issues.
• Provide technical and decision-making expertise related to technology solutions (ADP and Conduent).
• Drive payroll initiatives to ensure the payroll department is leveraging technology and ADP services to reduce costs and drive efficiencies
• Oversee payroll and benefit related tasks for new acquisitions to ensure smooth transitions.
• Maintain strong customer relationships to ensure the immediate resolution of problems as well as being responsive to future needs.
• Responsible for maintaining metrics associated with the position.
• Oversee Annual Enrollment end to end process including annual improvements and reporting
• Demonstrated communication and change management skills, including the ability to effectively translate technical and operational jargon/concepts for a lay audience, and to effectively and proactively inform, convince, influence, and educate executives, cross-functional stakeholders and team members
Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Management or another related field required,
• PMP and/or CPP certification(s) preferred
Experience:
• Lean /Six Sigma training combined with proven business experience.
• Participate and/or lead organizational efforts to drive cost and service improvements.
• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks toward timely completions.
• Solid Organizational, Project Management, and Presentation skills.
• Proven history encompassing strong business acumen, project mgmt and business partnering
• 10 plus years of payroll and benefits experience, 5 years of supervisory experience
• Demonstrated experience with System Conversions/Upgrades, preferably with ADP and/or Oracle HCM products
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong People leadership skills
• Thorough understanding of payroll processes tax issues, etc.
• Knowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments
• Working payroll knowledge of Section 125 (cafeteria plans) and deferred compensation plans
• Familiarity with payroll filing requirements for quarterly and annual returns
• Understanding of amendment process for quarterly and annual filings
• Understanding of labor management reporting and key concepts
• Knowledge of handling payroll for highly-compensated employees including taxable fringe benefits and stock option exercises
• Thorough understanding of benefits administration, including new ACA requirements
• Demonstrate history of strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, prudent risk taking, and collaboration and adaptability competencies
• Ensures compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and documentation.
• Responsible for prioritizing and overseeing various projects of a highly complex nature.
• Ability to manage team to ensure quality standards are met and oversee the production of expected deliverables during all phases of the project life cycle: initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing
