The Opportunity
Rodan + Fields seeks a Brand Director to oversee the Rodan + Fields skincare portfolio, responsible for brand planning, driving new product innovation and execution, ongoing business management and development of marketing programs to support the business in global markets.
Accountabilities
• Continuous development of a cohesive brand message and brand/category presence
• Execution of both short- and long-term strategic marketing vision and plans for portfolio of products that deliver more customers, increase product usage and deepen customer loyalty.
◦ Assessing volume potential of target markets and products
◦ Driving and coordinating all aspects of product launches with appropriate cross-functional team members
◦ Defining target audience, then creating positioning and launch strategies by audience
◦ Defining and developing marketing communication plan objectives
◦ Locating and securing strategic marketing partnerships, as needed
• Optimization of product offering to delight customers
◦ New product recommendations and volume forecasting
◦ Pricing strategy recommendations
◦ Packaging design changes and improvements
• Ownership and leadership of cross-functional initiatives and projects for global markets
• Oversee and guide team forecasting of all skus across the portfolio, managing all product lifecycle issues
• Monthly analysis of the state of the business and reporting to the VP of Marketing on category trends, business results and competitive news
• Budget & P&L management and sku rationalization
• Management and mentorship of direct reports
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Manage budget
• Develop brand strategies, positioning statements and optimal target audience for each product line in key Global markets
• Articulate and manage consistent branding and imagery throughout all marketing and promotional materials and product lines for all global markets
• Lead and execute all aspects of product launch plans with appropriate cross-functional team members
• Build cohesive, engaging, WOW go-to-market plans for all new products and initiatives, executing with excellence
• Help develop and execute strategic marketing plans, both long-term and short-term, to ensure the profitable growth and expansion of R+F product portfolio
• Develop field duplication models and initiatives to help meet all volume, profit and growth goals
• Manage the team to develop strong brand forecasts, while delivering profitable plans within budget
• Help develop short-term and long-term (5-year) innovation strategy where needed
◦ Conduct market research and data analysis to identify insights, needs and opportunities
◦ Develop product concepts, including selling hook, for our independent salesforce
◦ Take projects through the Stage Gate process
• Track brand performance and make insight-based recommendations for action
Qualifications:
• 10+ years in brand management and/or related marketing experience, ideally with global exposure
• Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
• Demonstrated ability to build, coach and manage a team
• Track record in brand building and developing and implementing marketing strategies
• Solid analytical and critical thinking skills with proven expertise in problem solving
• Ability to collect, analyze and derive business insights from data
• A strong understanding of the product life cycle and promotional process
• A creative thinker who is always looking for new ideas and better ways to get things done
• The ability to effectively partner and motivate across functions and with outside vendors
• A proven track record of working collaboratively and being accountable
• Outstanding oral & written communication skills and strong presentation skills with ability to engage an audience
• Self-starter, ability to thrive in a fast paced, start-up environment
• Collaborative leader, able to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts
