We are looking for an Enterprise Logistics Leader to join our team in Elkton, MD.

In this role, you will be accountable for the development and execution of the global Logistics Spend (air freight, ocean freight, truck, parcel, customs brokerage and 3PL categories), logistics operations and trade compliance (imports, exports, and compliance with government agency requirements) supporting the enterprise. Additionally you’ll provide leadership to multiple team leaders who are accountable for logistics activities in the businesses, divisions, regions, and the enterprise overall. Your key focus will be on maximizing logistics leverage within regions and businesses while utilizing strategic sourcing, category management and supplier performance management tools to deliver value. A primary responsibility will be ensuring that the businesses and functions receive the maximum value to meet their objectives. You’ll also provide direction and oversight, and drive the performance management, talent planning and compensation processes while creating a team environment that engages associates.
Responsibilities include:
• Developing the overall vision, strategy and objectives for the logistics function and ensure effective execution of the strategy
• Understanding external industry, market trends, the competitive environment and internal performance to align and continuously improve the strategy
• Leading a global team of logistics procurement, operations and trade compliance professionals in the USA, EMEA and AP
• Providing leadership for multiple logistics team leaders which includes driving the performance management, talent planning and compensation processes
• Developing a high-performing team with the appropriate skills, knowledge and bench strength to deliver value to the enterprise
• Developing strategic relationships with key suppliers and engaging them in strategic supplier management for value creation and innovation
• Leading the selection and management of logistics-related outsourcing activities, including participating in and ensuring effective make-versus-buy decisions
• Driving regional and global process harmonization
• Driving external benchmarks
• Serving as the key link between the procurement/logistics organization, commercial businesses, and supply chains to resolve issues, optimize business performance and develop future improvement opportunities
• Influencing key stakeholders to evaluate options including modal mix, cost analysis for freight, duty, equipment utilization, internal/external and warehousing strategy to optimize the supply chains
• Integrating and aligning functional priorities with divisional and enterprise goals and initiatives
• Driving improvement of key functional metrics and reductions in functional operating costs in alignment with divisional strategy
• Directing new initiatives and improvement programs aimed at ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, technical excellence and improving cost-effectiveness
• Strategic planning; i.e. working with category leaders to develop fully integrated long-term strategic plans for the entire spend within the designated business area.
• Managing internal customer relationship by ensuring that logistics personnel fully understand business requirements and that logistics strategies are highly aligned to current and future business structures
• Being responsible and accountable for the processes relating to import and export shipments, managing relation to customs brokers, and monitoring their performance
• Being responsible and accountable for the processes relating to customs declarations, export documentation, tariff classification, and tariff preferences declarations
• Championing the practice of the Gore culture and holding others accountable for achieving results in a manner consistent with Gore values
Qualifications
Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university
• 10+ years’ logistics experience
• Experience leading and developing individuals and teams
• Demonstrated ability to:
◦ Clearly establish expectations, fairly address performance issues and hold others accountable
◦ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people in a global and matrixed organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to:
◦ Develop and communicate vision and strategic procurement initiatives, both verbally and in writing, to internal and external stakeholders
◦ Influence others, manage competing internal stakeholder priorities and deal with ambiguity
◦ Develop and execute strategic plans and successfully manage multiple priorities
◦ Travel 20%
Desired Job Qualifications:
• Experience in logistics sourcing/procurement, logistics operations and trade compliance
