Job Description
Job Purpose:
Provides strategic leadership to the region and European subsidiaries through detailed analysis of business trends/patterns and underlying data and their impact to the business. Examples of this leadership would be; identifying and recommending changes in the business based on Marketing Programs analysis, promotion analysis, pricing decisions, Mary Kay Consultant compensation program changes, asset lease versus buy decisions, new business venture assessments, etc.
Leads the region’s innovation efforts to identify, develop, rollout, and train to use tools that improve profits. These would include tools such as sales force segmentation resources, price evaluation resources, tools to improve promotion design effectiveness, etc.
Influence Europe based in-market teams to take a more strategic view of business by providing business insights supported by compelling data.
Support data driven decision-making and serve as the subject matter expert for the Europe region’s Sales and Marketing team, Finance, Operations and IT teams, and European subsidiary staff for all forms of analysis, assistance with analysis, training, and expertise.
Lead negotiations with vendors where applicable to benefit the region as a whole or specific subsidiaries as warranted. Examples would be vendors for car program leases, consultant credit card processing agreements, or other vendors where regional centralization will benefit the situation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Use analytical skills to review and optimize performance of key marketing and sales programs. Such analyses may include new independent beauty consultant start-up, discount structure, pricing, career path movement, and ordering motivations. Works closely with Regional Sales & Marketing team and VP Finance, Ops, and IT to identify opportunities collaborating with local subsidiary staff and corporate partners.
• Identify critical market issues and apply a broad knowledge of the business to form innovative and creative insights and effectively communicate the potential solutions including the risks. Collaborate with subsidiary and region staff to efficiently implement the solutions in market.
• Leads subsidiaries on business decisions through influence and data-driven strategic goals across the region.
• Apply innovative and sophisticated methods for continuously improving forecast accuracy with the use of empirical data and advanced techniques. These forecasts would include new product launches, promotional quantity forecast, annual sales forecasts, and others.
• Create and maintain an effective suite of tools for use by the region staff and subsidiaries to form a common platform of analysis that can be reviewed and understood easily.
• Train, teach, and assist regional staff and subsidiary staff to elevate the level of financial analysis performed across the region.
• Manage all administrative aspects of the career car program for the European region. This includes understanding the types of cars offered, production requirements, taxes, paint colors, etc., for all subsidiary car programs. It also includes understanding how the car program is supposed to work for maximum ROI, and providing assistance to the subsidiaries in achieving that ROI.
• Prepare a summary of conclusions and findings based on data analysis, and then present that information to all levels of management from the most junior to the most senior executives as appropriate.
• Apply broad knowledge of the business to form the basis of analysis to extract new and creative insights from deep within the data without having been told where to look.
Qualifications
Education:
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Math or, Computer Science, or other Business related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred. A CiFA (Certificate in Financial Analysis) or other professionally recognized certification is also preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of general business and marketing principles normally acquired through a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in mathematics and statistics.
• High level of proficiency using Business Intelligence software and analysis tools such as PowerPivot, PowerQuery, Cognos, Tableau, or others.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across cultures and corporate career levels.
• Ability to take the initiative.
• Ability to achieve results quickly and propose clear action steps.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• The ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate for maximum effectiveness.
• The ability to influence others based on facts and sound data.
• The emotional courage to challenge conventional ideas in both group and one-on-one settings.
• A desire and a belief that things can always be better and the drive to discover what might improve the situation regardless of the environment.
• Domestic / International overnight travel required approximately 20% of work time.
