The Position
We are looking for a passionate and proven Director of Global Public Relations for the new Hitachi Vantara! This person knows about storytelling and lives to get the best coverage possible. The successful candidate understands the business and industry we play in, has critical relationships with media and knows how to connect the dots to tell the best story possible. He/she is an excellent writer and communicator and knows how to leverage the power of the greater team across the globe and across various functions like customer advocacy, customer programs and events, product marketing, solutions marketing, sales, services and demand generation to deliver integrated global campaigns that move the needle. The successful candidate knows how to recruit and lead top talent. The primary objective of this position is to position Hitachi Vantara as a leader in the market and its solutions from infrastructure, content, analytics and IoT as the go-to-recommended solutions for customers through business, trade and vertical industry media coverage. This position will report to the Chief Communications Officer and manage its corporate PR agency.
Responsibilities
• This position requires strong leadership skills, executive presence, exceptional communication skills, ability to work across Hitachi Vantara’s global organization, experience working with senior executives, spokespeople and media.
• Develop and drive Hitachi Vantara’s global public relations program and team to ensure positive positioning of the company and its solutions in critical business, trade and vertical media
• Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with top-tier media
• Create and execute compelling global thought-leadership campaigns covering a number of topics including corporate and technology areas
• Provide strategic counsel to executives and spokespeople on how to message and position the company and its solutions
• Develop thoughtful and interesting content for communications opportunities including press releases, messaging documents, FAQs, press presentations, speaking opportunity abstracts and presentations
• Manage Hitachi Vantara’s crisis communications program and policies
• Lead and collaborate with cross functional teams including product marketing, solutions marketing, engineering, global programs to proactively engage them on communications content and media opportunities
• Create and manage KPIs for the global public relations program – sharing consistent updates to internal teams
• Manage budgets, scope of engagement and overall agency relationships.
• Recruit and lead a high-performing public relations team that has strong business acumen, excellent story-telling skills, a journalistic mindset and exemplary relationship-building skills
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing global public relations teams and agency partners, in-house and/or public relations agency experience required
• Experience in large, global B2B technology, software, services companies a plus
• Excellent storytelling skills
• A content master – strong writer that can draft compelling messaging for use in press releases, messaging documents, press presentations, bylines, blogs and FAQs
• Strong business acumen with keen knowledge of the market and what enterprise customers are experiencing in their Digital Transformation journeys
• Expert knowledge of the competitive landscape to develop rapid response to breaking situations which require messaging or external media activity
• Strong influencing skills and executive presence to interface with senior executives and provide the right counsel for maximum value
• Proven expertise to lead and manage global PR teams including agency partners to ensure global consistency and alignment of messaging and campaigns
• Proven ability to work and converse well with all levels of an organization including CEO and the C- suite
• Minimum of 5 years leading and managing high performing global teams
• Demonstrated ability to create high quality work, calmly and with good judgment in a fast-paced, high- stress environment
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus. Concentration in marketing, journalism, communications or equivalent experience is a must.
