The Director, Data Center Excellence will develop and support strategy that leads and drives implementation of processes and tools for global data leadership at the Xerox Corporation.
SUMMARY OF ROLE
Xerox, broadly, needs better access to its information and data assets. Better utilization of these assets will result in higher customer and partner satisfaction by meeting their demand for information, will improve Xerox’s ability to make informed decisions and allow for rapid development of affordable solutions that drive efficiency/productivity. This role will take the lead in defining the near term tactics and long-term strategy regarding Xerox’s use of data.
• · Leads the development and ongoing support of a new cloud based Data Platform and a set of analytics and data visualization tools. These capabilities are essential to achieving the above-described business outcomes.
• · Leads the creation of an enterprise data architecture and data inventory and classification
• · Leads the creation and maintenance of a Data Strategy and Stewardship Council inclusive of business partners and appropriate IT representatives.
This position operates at all levels of the business inclusive of management committee members. Establishing the broad strategy will require a high degree of influence with senior leaders in order to drive prioritization and establish appropriate processes necessary to maintain integrity and quality of data.
The role, initially, will manage a budget of between $15M and $20M. This would include internal headcount, vendor third party work (labor and outcomes based SOWs) and third party services (Cloud based Data capabilities). The financial scope is expected to grow over time. The work being done supports multiple key processes including but not limited to the KPI reporting to Board of Directors, financial analysis for the corporation and customer facing reporting for some of our largest accounts.
The role is at the Extended Leadership Team (ELT) level of the IT organization and has approximately 12-15 direct employees and 80-100 indirect employees with expectation of growth
• · Accountable for establishing and maintaining the Data Strategy and related Data Stewardship approach for Xerox. This will be done in conjunction with the major business functions and IT towers
• · Accountable for the implementation of a modern cloud based data platform. This platform is the foundation for work done across business functions and IT Delivery towers (Billing, Delivery, KPI management, financial reporting, sales insight etc.) and as such has stakeholders in every major business function and IT tower.
• · Accountable for the ongoing operations and user support related to the data/analytics offerings within the Data Center of Excellence.
• · The nature of this role is to address and satisfy continuously evolving business needs for data through new and emerging technologies and approaches. As such a core competency of this role is problem solving. This may occur in the context of technical opportunities/issues, management of complex vendor/delivery partner relationships, cost/budget challenges and/or people/skill deficits/needs.
• · Defines new approaches, techniques and/or technologies to improve overall delivery quality, functionality, speed and cost. Must be a thought leader in the area of analytics, big data, Master Data Management and use of modern data technologies (data lakes, Azure, and AWS cloud). Must also help transform the data COE to be a disciplined “dev ops” organization.
• · Works with industry peers to learn and leverage best practices in support of the above.
• · Establish the data strategy (all units, all dimensions) for the company as well the data stewardship practices through long terms goals supported by short sprints of work. These short sprints will enable value, move toward the target state but allow for regular adjustment of the strategy as business and technical conditions change.
• · Leveraging Xerox data assets to improve top line growth, customer experience and decision-making is a major opportunity for the firm not getting data right will put multiple business objectives as well as reporting controls at risk.
• · Agile\innovative mind set – experience working in fast-paced teams supporting critical business functions.
• · Demonstrated experience working at C-Level and below to define a comprehensive data strategy and stewardship process, inclusive of business intelligence, data visualization, master data management and use of data in transactional workflows.
• · Broad technical knowledge of data, data architecture and associated technologies and frameworks including more modern technologies such as Microsoft Cloud Data Platform; Amazon Web Services (Redshift); Hadoop; R; etc.
• · Experience with modern user experience design.
• · Demonstrated ability to quickly compose, test and deliver new business capability through agile methods (DevOPs).
• · Uses a fact based metric driven approach to managing delivery comparable to best in class development organizations
• · Extensive interactions with all levels of the business and IT through the ongoing work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to achieve goals related to both the data strategy as well as the specific data initiatives required by Xerox.
• · Frequent interactions with the senior leadership of the company to provide guidance and status on technical initiatives.
• · Continuous interactions with vendors and third party delivery partners in the context of program/project success, cost management, performance management etc.
• · Keeps abreast of changing market and industry approaches to data, analytics, artificial intelligence and other related capabilities.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
• · Bachelors degree required – Masters degree preferred
• · Ability to effectively interact with C-Suite
• · Past experience developing Data Strategy/Governance for large Fortune 500 firm
• · Past experience developing cloud based data solutions preferred
• · Some travel required
