The Opportunity
Rodan + Fields is seeking a Director, Total Rewards. The Director, Total Rewards will be directly responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of R+F’s total rewards philosophy, including the management, design, communication, compliance, and administration of organization’s global employee benefits and compensation programs. The Director, Total Rewards is responsible for all benefits and compensation programs in both US and international offices. S/he will serve as a key partner and resource to the entire HR team and internal clients. The Director, Total Rewards will report to the Sr. Director, Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
Compensation
• Oversee the compensation function; design, develop, and implement corporate compensation programs, policies, and procedures, including program goals and objectives in all areas of compensation (base salary, short- and long-term incentives, equity-based rewards, and recognition).
• Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures; strategize and recommend plan revisions as well as new plans which are cost effective and consistent with market compensation trends and organizational objectives.
• Ensure the company offers a market-based, pay-for-performance compensation program that is scalable.
• Review internal structure of job titles and salaries. Oversee salary benchmarking process for all positions to ensure employees are appropriately compensation within their team and location. Make recommendations for improvements and consistency, where applicable.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for compensation and benefit programs and identifying opportunities to better enable the company to improve employee engagement, facilitate proactive and effective messaging and cadence as well as support the company’s growth and strategic plan.
• Keep apprised of federal, state, local and international compensation laws and regulations in order to ensure compliance.
• Participate in strategic compensation surveys for use in competitive benchmarking of total remuneration programs.
• Collaborate and provide internal consulting resources to senior HR staff and organizational senior management in support of staff compensation strategies. Partner with senior leadership to clearly communicate compensation, salary and merit policies and procedures.
• Manage the day-to-day compensation administration, including job evaluation, grading, benchmarking, annual administration of merit and bonus programs, and other ancillary compensation programs. Provide compensation information, analyses and recommendations to HR business partners, recruiting team, and managers for promotions, salary adjustments, and retaining employees.
• Manage relationships with outsourced providers, brokers, consultants, insurance carriers, and other vendors.
Benefits
• Oversee the benefits function; determine long-term strategy for global benefit offerings and continuously evaluate all benefits plans to ensure they are cost effective, market competitive, compliant, and meet the needs of both the company and employees.
• Work with Benefits Manager to analyze and project costs for all benefit programs. Use analysis in determining recommendations for changes to benefit plans and design.
• Ensure that all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, FSA, life, disability, 401(k), etc., are managed appropriately and that vendors are held accountable to expectations
• Determine appropriate communication strategy to educate employees on benefit programs and changes. Education should ensure employees understand benefits and available resources
• Manage all federal, state, and local compliance, filings, reports, and audits related to the administration of employee benefit programs, including ERISA. Ensure all plan documents and Summary Plan Descriptions are complete and updated, 5500 Filings are filed accurately and in a timely manner, discrimination testing has been conducted, and oversee annual plan audits.
• Consults with internal business partners, including department heads and management, to assess benefits, compensation and compliance needs.
• Oversee creation of employee Wellness Programs designed to motivate employees in fun and innovative ways to participate in maintaining and improving their health.
• Manage the Benefits Manager.
• Other projects/duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS); minimum 8 years’ Compensation and Benefits management experience. Minimum 5 years’ supervisory/management experience including experience managing performance and providing feedback.
• Demonstrated track record of success in developing, implementing and communicating creative and successful rewards programs.
• Broad understanding of Human Resources including compensation, benefits, and HRIS/HCM.
• Demonstrated experience solving complex compensation issues through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Leadership and teamwork skills with a sense of urgency. The ability to both manage and assist with compensation related activities.
• Ability to lead a variety of projects from start to finish (e.g. needs identification and assessment, modeling and analysis, solution design and implementation).
• Experience developing & delivering presentations including executive summaries to various audiences including senior management team and/or business leaders.
• Flexible and proactive problem solver adept at achieving results in a team-oriented and collaborative environment, but also able to function effectively working independently.
• Demonstrated success in a dynamic, frequently changing and fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, employees, and various plan participants.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
