We are expanding The Wonderful Academy, a central training organization that supports all Wonderful Company business units, to successfully impact employee talent and company success.
We are seeking a Director, Learning & Organizational Development to build and scale learning and development programs that serve employees across our 8,000-person organization. With a strong background in strategic Learning and OD leadership and excellent people management skills, this hands-on role will build and lead a team of 6 people and 2 external consultants to design, develop and deliver high impact teachings to leaders across all companies. A learning expert working closely with our HR partners to create a multi-year employee development vision and bring it to fruition. This position will report to the CFO & SVP of the Wonderful Company.

Here's what you'll do:
• Build and lead a team of 6 people (including open headcount), plus 2 external consultants to deliver current leadership programs and design new offerings
• Lead the Wonderful Academy -- a centralized training function currently offering multi-day leadership programs for managers, directors, and VPs, as well as open enrollment electives, for employees across the enterprise
• Oversee the development and launch of a new Wonderful Sales Academy, a program for key account salespeople being built in partnership with a sales training vendor (Janek) and lead facilitator from Ken Blanchard Companies. This program, piloting in January 2018, will serve key account salespeople across our businesses
• Manage the Employee Engagement Survey, a biennial event conducted in partnership with KornFerry Hay Group, and assist businesses with action planning, as needed
• Oversee our new eLearning Manager, helping to develop a strategy for rolling out eLearning to our employees and converting our stand-up training into accessible, bite-sized learnings that can be accessed remotely
• Be a dynamic developer, storyteller and coach for new practical and creative solutions to employee development, including bringing innovative approaches to learning for our remote employees
• Engage with business leaders to address skills gaps and organizational transitions and align training processes to business goals. Demonstrate expert knowledge of training, coaching and performance management methodologies.
• Work closely with our HR team to develop training of business leaders at the VP, director, manager and supervisor level on how to coach and develop their teams, provide regular feedback and set development goals in a practical, meaningful manner.
• Work closely with HR to develop a strategy for onboarding employees that gives new hires the tools they need to succeed in this fast-paced, high-standards workplace
• Manage external Executive Coaches and develop a strategy for offering the service to employees
• Oversee department marketing and communications
• Ensure programs run with operational excellence
• Model behaviors that reflect continued personal and professional growth
• Travel to business units within CA, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas and internationally as needed (10%)
Here's what you'll bring to the table:
• Minimum 5 years of learning and organizational development experience, including experience developing and implementing training programs
• Excellent skills in guiding the development of new ideas, working with business leaders and managers across the business to identify skill gaps, and delivering programming of all types, including classroom training, eLearning, webinars, etc.
• Engaging, dynamic, proactive individual with advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels and across businesses
• Ability to work both collaboratively as a team across various functions and work independently in an ambiguous, constantly-changing environment with a relentlessly positive attitude
• Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects to ensure on-time delivery and quality using both internal and external resources
• Proven track record in leading and managing change initiatives
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
• Knowledge of current and future trends/practices in learning and development. Expertise in adult learning theories, systems thinking, and organizational culture. Knowledge of training systems, including Learning Management Systems, a plus
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred, in the areas of business and/or organizational development. Additional education/certification in instructional design, project management and leadership development considered beneficial
