To fulfill this mission, the Director, must have the following capabilities:
1. Expert in customer opportunity identification – the ability to identify opportunities to expand the Confection category, using traditional data analysis tools and leveraging knowledge of Confection shoppers and the retail environment.
2. Ability to elevate and improve the IDP planning model based on the evolving retail landscape
3. Proven ability to penetrate customers’ organizations both horizontally and vertically, to build and maintain dialogue with Key Decision Makers well beyond the Confection buying team.
4. Ability to align with customer teams to develop Best in Class tools and resources for maintaining Category Captaincies and superior industry Rankings
The Director must be comfortable operating at both a detailed, process level and a broad, strategic level. They must also have a keen view of the external environment including a) general trends impacting the business b) competitive assessment and c) an understanding of both consumers, shoppers and retail customers. A Director requires strong strategic skills and an ability to formulate the strategic direction with the customer including, but not limited to, collaborative planning process, center-store strategy, front-end evolution, seasonal evolution, total-store trends and trip information, etc.
The Director must be a strong leader of people. He or she will usually manage several employees, some of which will have direct people management under them, who require a careful blend of autonomy and direction on their individual and team businesses. The position is responsible for recruiting, training, development, retention, and building bench strength to feed other positions. Also, the Director plays a leadership role throughout the corporation in his or her coordination with other functions. He or she will play a leadership role with outside consultants.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or equivalent marketplace experience preferred
Experience: 8-10 years of experience, commensurate with education. Some experience should be relevant to CPG. Experience making strategic and tactical decisions. Sales leadership, category development, and/or consulting experience desirable, but not required
