Job Scope
The Associate Director of Trade Optimization leads US Trade Effectiveness initiatives and is the subject matter expert on optimization of trade investments supporting the US Biscuit and US Confections businesses. This role leads the analysis of trade investments with the goal of identifying opportunities, influencing planning improvements for key customers and businesses, and delivering promotion guidelines to support business deliverables and strategies.
Describe the primary responsibilities of the position in order of importance and identify % of time spent on that responsibility:
Trade Optimization to support Net Revenue Management
• Lead post event analytics initiative (70%)
– Drive consistent analytics to reveal opportunities for improved ROI at the Customer/Channel/Brand level, identify actionable insights, and influence plan improvements
– Develop analysis and insights at the Category/Customer/Channel/Brand level on incrementality and profitability of trade investments
– Define, implement, and own monthly trade execution assessment connecting post event back to in market results to support driving planning changes
– Own post event analytics tools and ensure continuously improving to support agenda
– Improve organizational capabilities in the trade optimization space by working with Area Directors and Sales Capability team; own the agenda and leverage support
• Lead development of Trade Strategies (20%)
– Drive analysis to deliver recommendations on promotion principles which maximize trade investment (ROI), balance revenue risk, and align with overall business strategies
– Develop analysis and insights as an input to annual trade fund allocation, and as an input to in year incremental investments
– Develop planning direction for specific key initiatives
– Lead/influence trade investment “studies” and ensure actionable to influence promotion principles and drive change
– Work closely with PPA team to support flawless implementation of pricing strategies
• Other initiatives (10%)
– Coaching and development of one direct report
– Lead Confections team in WB ensuring strong connectivity
– Ad hoc analysis to support Sales Leadership (ex Sales Deep Dives, quarterly reconnects)

Qualifications
Education Level
• BACHELOR’S DEGREE (4 YR)
• 10+ years experience - syndicated data, sales experience at headquarter level, net revenue management or field sales, cross functional commercialization
Competencies/Abilities:
These are key observable/measurable skills, knowledge and behaviors required
• Strong Syndicated data understanding and ability to connect back to business results
• Intellectual curiosity and drive to develop/enhance new ways to drive trade optimization agenda
• Ability to understand business results vs just reporting numbers
• Strong analytical ability demonstrated by looking at data and arriving at “so what”, “now what”; knowing how deep to dive to arrive at insight vs overwhelming with data
• Ability to connect well with people; listening and including different POVs
• Business acumen to know the difference between real application and theory
• Strong foundation understanding of Customer base/go to market strategies
