Job overview and responsibilities
Our field organizations are the backbone of running the operation at United. In order to be successful they require both short-term and long-term strategic recruiting support. This leader will align with our HR business partners and overall business operation which will result in the delivery of sourcing via diverse pipelines, while supporting our significant growth. This role will be located in our global world headquarters in downtown Chicago, IL.
• Lead a team of approximately 15 recruitment team members located across the United States to source, screen and present qualified candidates for management/administrative roles based within United’s Willis Tower location
• M&A roles IT, HR, Finance, Communications, Internal Audit, Revenue Management and many other corporate functions
• Liaise with Procurement to oversee the success of United’s third-party vendor handling contractor hiring
• Oversight of United’s outplacement vendor relationship(s)
• Coach, guide, develop and mentor recruitment team staff to ensure team members are well equipped to effectively consult with hiring managers on their current and projected hiring needs, and to efficiently deliver well-qualified candidates
• In conjunction with the Talent Acquisition leadership team, continually monitor and evaluate recruitment practices, policies and systems to ensure the delivery of best-in-class recruitment support across the country
• Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with M&A and Operations leaders across the country, consulting and advising to ensure recruitment needs are strategically planned and exceptionally executed
• Own and deliver agreed-up financial and headcount plans for team
• In conjunction with the Director of Recruitment Sourcing, Events & Attraction, help drive and embed United’s employment branding strategies and tactics
• Help drive and embed United’s Inclusion and Diversity strategies and tactics to ensure all searches proactively reach out to and include a diverse candidate slate
• Ensure all team members are capable of maximizing their professional use of third party platforms (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Facebook, etc.) to create compelling messaging for potential and active candidates
Qualifications
Required
• Experience leading high volume recruitment for field-based, operations teams. Current or prior work in union represented organizations is helpful
• Experience hiring, coaching/developing and managing talent acquisition team members to ensure top performance against agreed-upon objectives
• Experience working with organizations using best-in-class recruitment processes and protocols
• Experience coaching hiring managers in strategic and effective recruitment practices. Ability to help hiring managers realistically assess future hiring needs to ensure proactive staffing strategies and protocols
• Experience working with or managing recruitment outsourcing partners is highly desirable
• Highly effective, strategic thinker and planner with demonstrated project leadership, organizational, analytical, needs analysis, strategic business, problem solving and presentation skills
• Capability for thorough analysis; leading a data driven approach to strategy development and organizational management
• Demonstrates value in true teamwork and collaboration across the organization
• A demonstrated passion for the delivery of exceptional customer/client service
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal presentation skills, with highly credible executive demeanor and presence
• A sense of humor, high tolerance for ambiguity and change, a thirst for learning and self-development
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or a related field highly desirable
• 12+ years of HR / TA related experience in large, complex, multi-facility organizations with a minimum of 3+ years of recruitment experience
• Domestic Travel 25%
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
