General Summary….
The Managing Director, IT provides leadership and oversight to the IT Application Development team and is responsible for defining vision, formulating strategies, creating roadmaps and implementing processes to ensure the delivery of mission critical customer facing software, services and infrastructure. Working in collaboration with the broader FedEx Supply Chain IT organization, the role is responsible for partnering to bring customer centric solutions to market.
This position will be responsible for…..
• Lead the application development team in the pursuit of achieving IT Renewal goals – speed to value, reliability and security
• Creates a positive and empowering culture based in People Service Profit
• Leads and encourages the adoption and usage of Quality Driven Management in all aspects of work process and product
• Serve as a member of the leadership team for the Information Technology function, developing the vision for IT, and defining key strategies to support architecturally led, business driven solutions
• Lead implementation of Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) and Business Agility principles and practices
• Coach, mentor and develop individuals to raise standards and expectations within the IT organization for leadership and performance
• Be the primary evangelist of cloud native mindset, API first thinking and design practices
• Lead development and implementation of processes to aid in demand management, prioritization and sequencing of customer needs, programs and projects
• Establish and monitor system Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements to ensure system reliability and customer satisfaction, including processes and procedures for incident and outage management
• Develop business cases to support funding and prioritization of key business initiatives
• Partner with the IT Infrastructure and IT Operations team to implement highly resilient and highly available systems, with strong business continuity / disaster recovery plans
• Partner with the Information Security function to embed the information security mindset in team members and ensure all Information Security standards are met
• Ensure that proper procedures and policies are implemented to ensure Sarbannes-Oxley (SOX) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance
• Partner with sourcing and other key FedEx Services IT teams for Vendor, product, software and service evaluations
• Strong partnership with business teams to ensure timely customer value delivery
• Maintain relationships with key vendors and 3rd party software and service providers
• Actively participates in leadership development activities, including succession planning, coaching, mentoring and individual development planning to raise standards and increase expectations for leadership and performance
• Direct and monitor the work of all FedEx Supply Chain application development teams to facilitate completion of required customer implementations, software features and other deliverables
• Ensure FedEx brand standards are upheld, particularly in the delivery of customer facing software
You might be a great fit if….
Education/Experience
• 10 years of relevant IT or Engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, IT, Engineering or related field required. MBA or Master of Science preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of proven management experience, preferably in a logistics or transportation environment responsible for leading systems development, customer relationships, P&L, QDM, and talent management is required.
• Strong executive presence, and demonstrated ability to influence effectively at multiple levels, to gain buy-in and support of key strategies and initiatives
• Demonstrated self-confidence, particularly with client relationships; strong relationship building skills and active listening skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, teammates, customers, and the general public.
• A proven track record of mentoring and developing direct reports and subordinates
• Understanding of modern systems architectures including SOA, microservices and cloud native principles
• Understanding of agile principles and methodologies
• Leading resources and managing relationships with a Managed Technical Services (MTS) alternate delivery sourcing model
• Results oriented, highly motivated, and technically fluent in all aspects of software design and development
• Customer service driven
• Strong collaboration skills
• Experience leading, communicating and managing a globally dispersed development team
