Vice President, CPG
Overview
The Ketchum New York CPG team is seeking a Vice President to add to their dynamic team of talented professionals. This is a key role dedicated to one of the agency’s largest multinational accounts. A background in disruptive public relations, in addition to strategy, planning and execution of digital, social and mobile campaigns is essential to this role. He/she should have experience in working across multiple geographies, marketing and communicating to men, and have significant experience working with other marketing disciplines as part of an integrated team.
About the Job
• Plan
◦ Provide senior-level account and program-specific planning and supervision for several aspects of one of the agency’s largest multinational accounts.
◦ Demonstrate proficiency in writing and editing materials including strategic plans, toolkits, client media materials, points of view and other correspondence.
◦ Develop creative, innovative PR ideas and/or access teams to deliver these ideas to the client based on their needs. Ability to push the envelope and take some risks to push client PR to the next level. Plan approach must be holistic in nature, accounting for all elements of the PR toolbox across traditional, social and new media opportunities.
◦ Exhibit strong communication and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others.
◦ Understands trends in PR, pop culture and new media and can help shape programs that are right for the clients’ core target audiences
• Do
◦ Serve as the strategic liaison among client, account team and agency management.
◦ Serve as senior contact and counselor for clients, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of clients’ business; anticipate and address client needs
◦ Lead the execution of programs developed and sold in through the planning phase; motivate team members by promptly reviewing work and providing constructive feedback; encourage teams to take advantage of training and development opportunities.
◦ Serve as a hub, connecting the right specialists and resources across the agency and with outside vendors in order to work effectively and in the best interests of client(s); maximize agency’s network of resources to enhance client services.
• Learn + Grow
◦ Able to proactively share a vision for the account direction and to inspire the account team to achieve it.
◦ Creatively troubleshoot clients’ problems as they arise; seek senior management input and apply the resources from Ketchum whenever appropriate.
◦ Help set and achieve business goals for the Agency and media relations and marketing results for clients through strong leadership, vision, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
◦ Begin to build a leadership role in outside organizations to increase Ketchum’s visibility in marketplace and create new or incremental business opportunities.
• Manage
◦ Manage account financials including accurate budget creation, allocation and control. Ensure budgets are accurate when presented to clients, manage our scope of work to those budgets and the budget tracker to ensure we stay on track.
◦ Oversee team’s entered time, time sheets, client billing, supplier invoicing and purchase order compliance.
◦ Ensure team billability and account profitability.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree in a communications field desirable.
• At least ten years of agency and/or corporate public relations experience.
• Demonstrated track record in building strong client relationships and delivering programs that exceeded anticipated results.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others.
• Ability to develop, recognize, understand and be able to help sell great creative work; consumer packaged goods and marketing to men experience required.
• Demonstrated track record of solving complex brand challenges; strong balance of traditional, innovative, experimental and digital/social experience; proven ability to creatively problem solve
• Ability to lead and drive to the best client solutions through ambiguity and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships clients, colleagues and vendors
• Exceptional oral and written communications skills; captivating presenter and great listener; strong negotiating, persuasion and diplomacy skills
