Vice President | Media Relations Healthcare
Location: New York
Porter Novelli is looking for a savvy PR Media Relations specialist with a focus in the healthcare field. Your main role will be to be an advocate for our clients with top media and influencers by driving and executing media strategies and building strong media and influencer relationships. You are someone who is always on top of trends and gets energized by crafting a story of our client’s news, data, and innovations to media. You understand the digital and traditional media landscape and leverage the power of both. This position will give you the opportunity to work with many of our leading pharmaceutical and health and wellness clients.
What you will be doing
• Adept at building a media strategy for pharmaceutical and health and wellness clients.
• Able to work across multiple clients and multiple teams.
• Able to contribute to developing new business strategy and participate in new business pitches.
• Support lead communications programs for pharmaceutical, biotech, health tech, diagnostic products and healthcare clients.
• Build relationships with top-tier media across multiple channels, including email, social media, and phone to place client stories at a national level.
• Counsel our clients on industry trends by being on the lookout for opportunities for engagement with media.
• Drive story development and influence an ongoing and positive dialogue that supports the client’s overall strategy.
• Develop compelling, media-focused content, ranging from press releases and written pitches to digital and video content.
• Proactively create thought leadership content on relevant healthcare issues.
The experience that will contribute to your success
• 8+ years of experience in healthcare communications, with a deep background developing and executing public relations and corporate reputation programs, including corporate positioning, media relations, and executive communications.
• Agency experience is a must and experience working in a healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech company or association is highly desired.
• Competent at driving coverage with established media contacts.
• Ability to develop relationships with third-party organizations, physicians, and caregivers.
• Knowledge of the healthcare industry and regulations.
• Skilled at writing and editing healthcare material into information that can be grasped by the general public.
• Familiarity at developing earned media and engagement strategies that align with clients’ needs and overall goals.
