The Role
We are looking for an Executive Strategy Director to join our team. This person is responsible for managing the brand strategy and strategic platforms around the world to ensure that work we create is globally relevant.
The ESD will lead a team of 5 strategists in the US and work alongside strategists in the UK and Australia as well as other key markets to develop frameworks, guidelines, workshops, etc. to inspire award winning creative across all communication channels. The ESD and the planning team are not on an island – they will have some of the best creative and account partners in the world working alongside them to help us all achieve our collective goal.
This is a great opportunity for a strategist who wants to be able to tell the story about how they helped an 80 billion dollar underdog regain its place as one of the most relevant and loved brands in the world.
What you will do…
To be the glue, galvanizer, and MAKER of the brand's strategic and creative product.
This manifests in leadership across:
• Our People: Find, develop, align and inspire talent.
• Our Product: Lead the strategic development of the brand, pushing for strong insights and strategies that manifest in great work that impacts the brand and business. Sometimes this means aligning the right talent to the right project, product or initiative at the right moment of impact. Sometimes this is about ensuring excellence and inspiring thinking. Sometimes it’s about pushing Truth Central and other insights in a sharper way.
• Our Process: Develop and foster approaches and tools to drive holistic strategic development across the brand: journeys, briefings, 5C's, workshops, Truth Central, etc. – experiment and continue to build the TRUTH 2 MEANING approach.
• Our Community: Develop and lead their brand to help create great ideas that travel, ways of working across markets and identify, develop and shepherd talent (mobility too) across the global brand community.
◦ Be the growth seekers on the brand to drive organic development.
◦ Be the creative connectors and cultural influences: help us focus on great product, a learning culture and spreading that MWG is great.
Specifically, on the brand:
• Drive great work: Find the partner, find the projects – 3 FOR ALL (3 magical things on their brand per year).
• Be global: As a member of the global strategic leadership team: partner with the other global brand, discipline and regional strategy leaders, (the SLC) and Suzanne Powers, our global CSO to drive excellence via:
◦ Overall leadership of their brand, bringing proactive thinking and managing success of client's business through great work.
◦ Providing inspiration, guidance, perspective
◦ Highest level client, creative, and account person partnership
◦ Agency leadership, focused on what’s best for the company now and in the future
◦ Proactive forward thinking, about new best thinking that could impact all of MWG
Who you will be…
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area required (not necessarily advertising)
