In this position….
You will help drive a trading culture at WAVEMAKER and provide support for teams to extract more benefit from the marketplace for clients. Key responsibilities will be to guide teams in trading strategy; support/drive key negotiations; provide and solicit market input; build/maintain productive relationships with key partners that lead to WAVEMAKER leadership perception in the industry.
Job Responsibilities:
• Trading structure/culture: Establishing a next level of focus on a trading mindset and culture at WAVEMAKER is of critical importance. Working with WAVEMAKER’s Digital Trading Leader, this position will be critical to establishing a credible Digital Trading organization at WAVEMAKER. In this role the Sr. Director has the opportunity to help shape the offering and team construct in order to ensure it delivers for WAVEMAKER’s client teams and most importantly, clients. Additionally, helping to drive process and best practices will set the organization up to deliver the best day to day
◦ Opportunities
Continue to drive consistent process and approach to marketplace dealings and cascade to teams
Work with IT/GroupM/MS Business Planning to significantly increase access to accurate, timely trading data (rates, spend trends, inflation projections, etc.)
• Strategy: Each account at the agency needs to have a clear trading strategy based on client goals. This will allow us to deliver consistently for clients and help connect client level activities to a more cohesive WAVEMAKER approach in the marketplace.
• Negotiation: WAVEMAKER is always looking to increase its leverage in the marketplace. The Director will help drive WAVEMAKER and GroupM level discussions to create benefit for the broader client base at WAVEMAKER as well as support individual client level deals as needed
• Integration: Coordination within the Exchange service area, especially with Tactical Planning activities, is critical to ensuring cohesive plan output for clients. It also enables us to deliver on the promise of scale that WAVEMAKER offers, recognizing the increasing number of platforms with which we operate with our partners. Additionally working with an integrated team means ensuring the right connections with Planning/Strategy, specialist areas such as National Broadcast and Print, as well as specialist digital practices (Mobile, Social, Search).
• Communication: Lead via strong communication to support teams and promote superior Trading:
◦ Imperatives
Casting a wider net to support Trading staff in client team discussions around trading/buying approach, etc.
Participating in regular WAVEMAKER and GroupM trading meetings.
Helping DTL to communicate market intel to teams via wider GroupM channels as well as soliciting intel from team level and working back up
Looking for opportunities that multiple brands can take advantage of, recognizing the diverse array of WAVEMAKER clients
◦ Working with Digital Trading Leader, drive a better connection between multiple internal/external constituencies:
◦ WAVEMAKER office/client leads
◦ Digital leadership (including MS Global)
◦ Marketplace/senior level contacts at key partners
◦ GroupM
• Talent Development: Aid in building an identity for WAVEMAKER digital trading to reduce turn-over and aid in recruitment

Work on individual career development, build long-term career goals for trading-focused employees

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and communications
• Minimum 10 years in digital media
• Complete knowledge of buying and planning, and reporting process
