Job Summary
The Account Director ensures that the Agency is well prepared to meet all client marketing, timeline, and budget needs for all assigned accounts. This role has primary responsibility for day-to-day management of the account and account team, and management of the relationship between all other internal teams. The Account Director look beyond the day-to-day account needs and develops ways to build a client’s business. The Account Director has overall responsibility for Agency output and provides supervision, perspective, and leadership in the development of the highest possible quality product and team dynamic. Further, this role has involvement in the supervision and development of subordinates and team. Approximate responsibilities include 30% client relationship building and account growth, 20% strategy and leadership, 40% project planning and execution, and 10% agency development and project P/L accountability.
What will you do?
Client Management
• Manage client relationship in order to provide superior work, value added services, and expand account responsibilities
• Establish personal credibility and develop sound business relationship with clients
• Navigate the client organization for the purpose of growth, sell-in, and effective delivery of our marketing solutions
• Work closely with VP, Account Leadership and SVP, Operations to expand agency’s participation in client business and keep all stakeholders apprised of activities and concerns
Account Management
• Responsible for the accurate and timely development and execution of all marketing programs from concept to execution and post-program evaluation
• Ensure team’s client service levels are maintained and all client expectations are met or exceeded; engage and lead team through collaborative process
• Provides overall project direction to Creative, Strategy, and other internal teams
• Develops all major presentations and reviews all other presentations prepared by Account team
• Seeks to develop incremental work and ideas via smart sell-in strategies and compelling presentations
• Sets and manages expectations with the client and agency partners, and champions the agency
• Ensures high quality work output, excellent project management, flawless delivery, and elimination of errors within the team
• Actively anticipates client barriers, objectors, and influencers; sets strategies to overcome
Strategic Participation
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of client’s business and industry
• Participates in strategic process to ensure sound and effective program development
• Review program results with Senior Strategy Director and extrapolate key learnings
Financial Management
• Maintain business accountability for account profitability and timely payment
• Work with senior leadership in development of annual plan for account staffing and profitability
• Maintain absolute integrity and honestly in all financial interactions
Agency/Staff Development
• Play an active role in the development and maintenance of agency culture and the development of team
• Responsible for training and development of team members; help subordinates develop positive, productive relationships with client and within agency
• Help to create an environment where account and creative staff feel challenged and valued
Qualifications
• Minimum 8 years of agency/client brand experience
• 2-4 years relevant experience in experiential marketing program development & execution
• 2-4 years proven management experience of a team of 5+ employees
• Significant experience negotiating partnerships and developing contracts
• Prior experience reconciling and budget development of $1MM+ programs
• Strong understanding of marketing communications and creative principles, including all elements of the marketing mix; event advertising, promotion, and relationship marketing
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills that encourage team cooperation, promote enthusiasm and motivate strategic thinking
• Ability to present and sell ideas and build/grow client relationships
• Proactive approach to all aspects of the role, including employee development and motivation
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Minimum B.S/B.A in Marketing Communications or related discipline preferred
