Vayner is continuing to redefine the media industry, with rapid growth, and is seeking a to fill a key leadership as well as a managerial role: Director, Planning. The Director is foremost a marketing partner with their clients, while setting strategic + innovative direction across a media-led, integrated solution (strategy, insights, planning, creative, production, media, etc) for their client partners. The Director will be a driving force for planning ideation; media-execution; and media-led creative in the digital space. VaynerMedia’s clients come to us for innovative, disruptive solutions, and the Director must demonstrate a strong appetite for new technology, emerging media, content, and strong understanding of the digital landscape. The Director is responsible for orchestration and navigation of resources (internal and external) along with the ability to identify opportunities/partnerships for both client and agency growth and advancement.
WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO
Comms/Media Planning + Execution:
• Key Lead for media plan output timeliness, accuracy, and innovation
• Lead the process of strategic media planning and serve as a resource for Associate Directors, Supervisors, etc for advice and counsel
• Demonstrate ability to utilize resources to help guide client’s marketing goals in their respective markets (syndicated, proprietary, analyst data)
• Understand and adopt new techniques and technologies that are relevant for clients’ media strategies
• Maintain relationships with media community; continue to develop publisher and higher relationships for exchange of ideas
• Identify opportunities that deliver mutual value, savings, and revenue for client and agency
Relationships - Internal + External:
• Build trusting, collaborative relationships with clients at appropriate levels
• Manage expectations of clients and deliverables
• Accurately represent the client’s point of view when reviewing work - leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client
• Identifies opportunities to offer other agency service line offerings to existing clients
• Demonstrate ability to sell VaynerMedia and all its offerings (beyond Media)
• Capable of effectively managing up and down the reporting structure
Leadership + Strategic Thinking:
• Provide and/or guide strategic input for all plans internally and externally
• Demonstrate problem solving and intervention when necessary
• Understand and analyze the root causes of problems and develop ways to rectify
• Guide and assist staff to arrive at potential solutions to problems/issues
• Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
• Train, motivate, and develop a comms/media planning group
• Construct and deliver accurate, honest, and timely performance management documents
• Ability to think outside the box and beyond a banner ad to drive and inspire creativity/innovation elevating client brand(s)
• Connecting the dots and ensuring the executions and activations ladder back up to strategic vision
Communication Skills:
• Establishes and maintains communications process with clients, digital, and offline media teams, etc. for each piece of business within the team
• Directs the development of client presentations and other important communication, communication that is clear, compelling and persuasive
• Lead client presentations
• Works to lead integration across multiple departments @ VaynerMedia: Strategy/Insights, Creative, Production, etc
• Adapts communication style to relevant audience
• Moves audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information
Experience/Knowledge Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Track record of managing and executing Digital programs and investments meeting/exceeding both client and agency objective & goals (minimum 9+ years of industry related experience)
• Collaborative nature and experience working across media owners, agency business units, and creative agency partners
• Client service experience
• Strong comfort level with data, analytics and measurement
• Understanding of key research sources needed for strategic comms planning
• Proven leadership ability – experience managing a team of planners & supervisors
• Knowledge of current trends and innovations in media
