Summary:
The Associate Director, Paid Search is responsible for all day-to-day Paid Search operations on and be the main point of contact for an account. The Associate Director provides strategic direction and leadership within the digital group to deliver the most effective and innovative communication plans, and manage the career paths of supporting staff within the Paid Search team.
Responsibilities:
Plan Development and Maintenance
• Formulate Paid Search strategy for client businesses and ensure that recommendations and decisions are consistent with client’s objectives and strategies
• Assume lead role in integration of client’s Paid Search efforts and demonstrate full understanding of client’s businesses as basis for all future work
• Present innovative, business building Paid Search recommendations within the digital realm
Team Management and Leadership
• Lead Associates and/or Managers in thinking strategically about Paid Search’s role within the media mix and help teams define tactical game plans to set strategies and plans to address client needs
• Accurately, objectively and constructively evaluate performance of Associate(s) and/or Manager(s) via talent development process
• Facilitate the development and documentation of best practices for improving operational efficiencies within the team and the group
• Get involved in financial aspects of the account budget, staffing, projections, etc.
• Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, developing, and evaluating team members
Account Management
• Provide stewardship advising on all Paid Search matters that fall within scope of agency assignment
• Coordinate the work of the [m]Platform disciplines, industry groups and media partners; assist with integration of other client and GroupM agencies
• Provide support to regional offices and/or partners, where applicable
• Maintain and encourage an open environment for the media partners to approach [m]Platform teams first with opportunities and innovations
• Participate in Agency / departmental task forces, project work and new business for GroupM organizational impact
• Keep senior management apprised of key client opportunities, potential risks and other key nuances which affect the health of the business
Qualifications:
• An academic degree in a related field (such as Advertising, Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Analytics, or Communications)
• A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant Paid Search experience or related media planning experience required, with focus on team leadership and management
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of search engines required
• Significant client-facing and relationship management experience required
• Experience using Google AdWords, BingAds, Yahoo Gemini, as well as 3rd party tools a must
• Prior experience managing a team a must; demonstrate ability to train and grow junior members of a team and serve as a mentor
• Prior experience in an agency environment highly desired
• Working knowledge of Paid Social a plus
• Motivated self-starter who can prioritize tasks, be a decision-maker, and work both on a team and independently
• Exhibit passion through appropriate participation in team, agency, and industry initiatives
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent verbal and written skills; exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and attention to detail
