The Role Objective:
The Associate Media Director (AMD) acts as the day-to-day liaison between the client and media community providing leadership, strategic direction and input for media plans. The APD effectively leverages experience, knowledge and skills to push innovative thinking and set challenging team goals and objectives balancing client, company and team needs.
Primary (day-to-day) Responsibilities:
• Develop, present and oversee execution of media plans from inception to completion
◦ Delegate appropriately to Supervisors, Media Planners, Assistant Media Planners to support plan development and execution
◦ Ensure plans are executed flawlessly
◦ Ensure media plans deliver on client objectives, are strategic and meet efficiency goals
• Build and maintain a comprehensive media knowledge base and synthesize information into ideas
• Maintain status reports to ensure efficient workflow to meet deadlines and write reports of key meetings
• Manage the process for the creation and implementation of brand studies
• Act as key liaison
◦ With internal implementation teams (Print, Broadcast, Digital Trading)to ensure seamless integration of ideas into media plans ensuring deliverables align with overall plan strategies, timelines are met and programs/results are coordinated and presented holistically to client
◦ With agency partners ensuring coordination on IAT projects, team collaboration, and unified POVs are delivered to the clients
• Maintain client contact/manage client requests – i.e. plan changes, budget changes, provide marketplace information
• Work with analytic partners to gauge media performance and KPI’s to determine the extent to which the original objectives and strategies were met
• Lead internal meetings with other departments and call on agency resources to strengthen ideas
• Staff supervision, training and development as well as serving as a positive role model with a strong work ethic and vigorously reviewing all work to ensure high quality standard
• Foster a good working relationship across all client teams to facilitate flawless execution of plans
• Establish and grow a strong relationship with the client through a demonstration of industry knowledge and of the client’s basic business issues
• Steward relationship with outside agency partners (creative, PR, etc.)
• Begin to understand financial implications of client contracts, plan changes, etc.
• Review and approve vendor specific revisions to standard 4A’s T&C’s
• Create, present and organized filing of Agency 101’s for clients
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Attend client specific and departmental meetings
• Attend mandatory Agency Training
• Participate in brainstorm sessions
• Participate in New Business pitches
• Proactively keep abreast of industry trends and share knowledge with team

Experience
• 5+ years in media planning including 2+ years as Supervisor; Experience across a variety of media channels such as digital, TV, print, etc.
• Strong experience supervising and mentoring teams
Knowledge
• Demonstrates understanding of media basics and concepts
• Working knowledge of Syndicated tools (MRI, Comscore, etc.)
• Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
• Fundamental understanding of media tools, iDesk, ad serving tools, etc.
