The Role
We are looking for a Communications Planning Director to join our team here in NYC. This person will take great ideas, and make sure that they get the job done for our client. You will tell us where, why and how to put our ideas to work so they reach their full potential.
The Team
The McCann NY Strategy department is a collective of 45 brave, nimble and smart individuals whose experience is as varied as their strategic approach. Our goal is to create work that allows brands to play a meaningful role in consumers’ lives.
What you will do…
• Make sure we develop the right solution for the problem. For this, you’ll need to know how to define and understand audiences, how to write and inform briefs, how to set both real and inspirational goals, and how to work with other strategic partners both inside and outside the McCann network
• Put that solution to work. You’ll need to be familiar with all the media, how they work, why one is better than the other and how to collaborate with partners in bringing ideas to life.
• Thrive in an open, unstructured environment, where you’ll need to inspire our creative teams with your own ideas and suggestions for how to make ideas better.
• Partner closely with your counterparts in Creative, inspiring fresh, original ideas that are rooted in culture, and in human and business insight.
• Develop strong working relationships with your counterparts in Account, and with Clients, forming the basis of trust and action to move those creative ideas from theory to reality.
• Ensure use, adoption and learning of proprietary strategic tools.
Who you will be…
• 6+ years as a strategist, preferably in different agency environments (creative, media, digital)
• Deep understanding of the media landscape – both offline and online
• Ability to think strategically (not just tactically)
• Experience using industry tools and resources (MRI/Simmons, eMarketer, AdViews/AdRelevance, Comscore, Netbase, etc.)
• Commercially minded, believes in the power of brands
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area required (not necessarily advertising)
