The 2017 Edelman Trust Barometer shed surprising light on how CEOs are perceived as change agents, and suggested that a new model of CEO leadership is emerging – provided CEOs take specific actions. The survey also revealed that the general population trusts business as an institution more than it trusts its leaders. Driven by these insights, Edelman works with global corporations and organizations to express more engaged and purpose-driven leadership to bridge this critical trust gap.
To further grow this important capability for our clients, Edelman Bay Area has an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications leader who specializes in corporate reputation. We are seeking a Senior Vice President, Corporate Reputation to help grow our Corporate & Public Affairs practice, which provides expertise and execution in strategic communications, crisis and issues management, corporate social responsibility, financial communications and overall corporate reputation management.
The Senior Vice President, Corporate Reputation will deliver on all aspects of corporate communications, bringing at least ten years of experience in strategic communications, media relations, executive positioning (inclusive of digital strategies) and online/offline influencer engagement to bear to advance our clients’ business objectives, as well as our own.

Overall:
• Oversee client service including program planning, problem solving and strategic counsel
• Play a lead role in prospecting and business development
• Counsel account teams on and co-develop integrated corporate communications strategy
• Understand key client industry issues relating to products, product categories, technologies, primary and potential competition and general issues facing the industry
• Own financial and operational responsibility for accounts including forecasting, account profitability and staffing
• Understand key competitors and their business strategies
• Actively develop team and provide coaching and feedback
• Identify new organic growth opportunities based on insights into the company, client, industry and economy
• Help to build and grow strong internal relationships across the Edelman network
Specific to Corporate Reputation:
• Support Bay Area lead of corporate reputation in building the capability locally and developing new, innovative strategies across executive positioning, media and influencer engagement
• Build strong corporate programs that continue to push into new territories and evolve our capabilities
• Look for opportunities to introduce and deploy new tools, templates and training to the corporate reputation offering
• Orchestrate the Edelman network as needed for the benefit of clients and push information about the offering when the opportunity strikes
Some of the qualifications we are seeking in a Senior Vice President, Corporate Reputation:
• The ideal candidate should have extensive experience within the public and corporate affairs arena (at least 10 years and preferably 12+).
• Background in executive communications for C-Suite and senior company leadership including platform and engagement strategy development
• A demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful public relations strategies and programs, including strong agency or other consultative experience
• A broad understanding of all facets of corporate communications including corporate narrative development, executive positioning, media relations and influencer engagement.
• Strong research and writing skills that help bring executive stories to life
• Experience with prominent global events and conferences (particularly as it pertains to placing speakers)
• Experience with executive training (e.g., media, presentation) is a plus
• The candidate will be a team player, possess strong leadership qualities and have in-depth experience managing client teams as well as direct reports
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred and an advanced degree is a plus
• A strong background in pitching and winning new business
• Superb understanding and involvement in the region’s business and/or government community with proven strong and positive relationships
• An entrepreneurial spirit, comfort forging internal alliances across practices and geographies, and talent for networking, mentoring and coaching round out the prerequisites for this position
