Senior Vice President, Client Strategy: Edelman Digital

This position is designed to accelerate our delivery of fully integrated, digital-led marketing solutions for clients, build C-level client relationships (with a focus on the chief marketing officer) and lead in the creation of powerful programs that bring together the best of Edelman Digital’s expertise.
While much of the work will be externally focused across a portfolio of large client and new business relationships, success will also be defined by leadership and training of account staff, modeling outstanding collaboration and innovation of our service offering. The position will join the existing Edelman Client Strategy Team, and will report to the General Manager of Edelman Digital Chicago.
EXPECTATIONS:

• Business problem solver - clearly articulates the business problem that the client is looking to solve and ensures it is understood by the full Edelman Digital team;
• Confident in speaking about the rapidly changing digital landscape, including platforms, technology and innovation;
• Knowledgeable about the markets, sectors and channels in which the client operates; uses internal and external resources to address knowledge gaps and speeds learning with colleagues;
• Serves as the client’s chief advocate within Edelman Digital and ensures; broad understanding of the client’s business, goals and point of view;
• Assembles, builds and leads integrated team that:
◦ Reflects our understanding of the client’s needs today and tomorrow;
◦ Delivers integrated thinking rooted in sophisticated insights;
• Measures, monitors and advances all aspects of client-agency relationship;
• Balances the needs of the client and the needs of the firm with grace and understanding;
• Identifies and mentors future client leaders on their business;
• Actively listens – asks smart questions, listens to what’s not being said, is willing to have honest ongoing dialogue about what’s working and what isn’t;
• Identifies and acknowledges problems swiftly and directly, offers solutions and course-corrects as needed;
• Measures what matters – tracks progress and reports results based on agreed-upon metrics and achievement of business goals, as well as communications goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10 – 12 years digital agency or marketing experience;
• At least 7 years managing integrated agency teams at a senior level (Group Account Director or equivalent);
• Senior client presence - influential, confident and convincing when presenting ideas and providing counsel (internal and external audiences);
• Ability to articulate a strategic POV driven by business insights;
• Strong communication -- active listening, negotiation/persuasion;
• Exceptional problem solving skills;
• Deep appreciation for – and experience in – using analytics to design and optimize digital-first programs;
• High Emotional Intelligence;
• Strong judgment and calculated risk taking;
• Opportunistic and forward thinking;
• Learns and builds from experience.
