Burson-Marsteller, an award winning integrated public affairs and communications consultancy, is seeking to hire a Director to support the expansion of our technology and competition practice. We are looking for candidates to both grow our existing clients – including many of the leading global technology brands – and drive growth across today’s and tomorrow’s foremost technology, M&A and competition policy developments.
Burson-Marsteller specializes in counselling companies and organizations to shape and impact the development of European policy, delivering solutions to complex regulatory and corporate reputation challenges and designing cutting-edge creative communications campaigns throughout Europe, the Middle-East and Africa.
Director, Technology and Competition
Partnering with our senior management team, the Director will drive and develop our technology and competition practice in Brussels and throughout our EMEA network.
Key responsibilities
• Design and implement pan-European integrated public affairs and communications campaigns on technology and competition policy
• Manage client budgets
• Lead on new business development, growing clients organically, responding to requests for proposals, leading pitches and identifying new growth opportunities
• Lead, empower and mentor team members with the knowledge and skills to become the go-to advisors on technology and competition policy
• Provide senior counsel to clients, responsible for client management
• Contribute to the overall business objectives of Burson-Marsteller in Brussels and regionally
Competencies & Skills
• Extensive experience in a consultancy, the EU institutions, trade associations, a law firm or in a corporate role
• Expertise across EU policy, with a strong focus on technology and competition
• Established network in Brussels with relevant policy-makers, business leaders, media and influencers track record of campaign development and successfully influencing policy
Knowledge and experience of working with media
• Proven experience in new business development
• Ability to master the detail of complex, challenging and novel issues and provide strategic advice thereon
• Strong leadership, people, client and project management skills
• Excellent skills, knowledge and experience in digital communications
• Excellent spoken and written English with preference for other European languages
