SUMMARY: BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION
The Associate Media Director’s role is to provide the highest level of media leadership on a client’s business on a day-to-day basis, specifically in the area of Digital Strategy and Though Leadership. This involves having an expertise in all digital media principles, a perspective on all things "ad tech", and applying them to a client’s business. A successful AMD must be an effective communicator and possess the ability to both work and lead a group in a team environment. The AMD must lead and foster a strong level of integration among all groups within OMD and partner Agencies. The key difference between the AMD role and the Supervisor role is this the ability the ability elevate conversations with senior level clients and think about the business objectives and implications beyond the campaign.
WHAT THE JOB DEMANDS – BALANCE OF ART & SCIENCE
Digital Authority:
• Be the go-to for all things digital strategy for your client and internal strategy team
• Grow relationships with clients, become a trusted resource for Digital thought leadership
• Identify new / innovative Digital strategies for the client, when appropriate
• Provide point-of-view on various technologies, partners, platforms and opportunities in the marketplace
• Meet with media sales executives and industry representatives on a regular basis to pursue ideas that are strategically aligned with the client’s business and foster strong relationships between OMD and the marketplace
• Partner with Digital Investment Team, Platform Logistics, Media Vendors, and partner creative agencies.
• Keep abreast of industry trends (trade press, seminars, events, competitive) that may impact a client’s business
• Be well versed in all aspects and details of the campaign programs from concept to executional details
Process Driven:
• Ensure that the OMD Digital planning process is followed, opportunities are being tracked and reflected accurately
• Ensure that timesheets of team members are being captured and reflected accurately
Motivator & Teacher
• Supervise development, implementation and maintenance of media plans
• Facilitate each team member’s development and educate them on process
• Continually learn and gain expertise in new technologies and share that knowledge throughout the team
Critical Thinker:
• Hungry for insights and can defend thinking with data, mine, harmonize and elevate insights
• Uncover new targeting opportunities, to buy more efficiently, to better understand the outcomes we drive for clients
• Mine, harmonize and elevate insights across various data sources, analyze and optimize plans based on KPIs
• Negotiate plans and Terms and Conditions in terms of business points and flag any inconsistencies or issues with GD
Collaborative partner:
• Embraces and drives results and is building partnerships with others on behalf of clients
• Provide support to internal groups within OMG, and determine the best want to integrate and leverage all resources
EXPERIENCE NEEDED: DIGITAL EXPERT
• Collaborative nature and experience media owners, agency business units and creative agency partners
• Comfort level with data, analytics and measurement and various data sources and methodologies
• Thorough knowledge of the principles of marketing/advertising, understanding of media concepts, creative requirements (minimum 5+ years of digital industry related experience)
• Uses alternative analytical approaches to solve media problems
• Writes clearly and concisely and present orally in an articulate and confident manner
• Effectively and comfortably communicates and interact with clients and effectively negotiate on the client’s behalf
• Articulates objectives, opportunities and techniques
• Ability to train and inspire team
