Description
The Role:
The Group Director is primarily responsible to be a brand champion, producing a media product that is strategically on point and executed without flaw.
TheGroup Directoris expected to establish strategic direction for holistic media plans and understand all aspects of communications planning. The GD is expected to build and maintain productive working partnerships with client teams, agency partners, and media resources. As a result of those partnerships the GD should be seen by all as a leader; acting as counsel, resource, and facilitator on client behalf with key internal and external players. This is a hands-on leader role that requires balancing between delegating responsibly and ownership of executing deliverables on time, on budget, and with attention to quality. This role leads the team in terms of establishing priorities, morale, energy level, and quality standard. The GD will partner with Human Resources to assess talent, set performance goals, supervise-coach-provide routine feedback against performance expectations, advocate learning and development. Above all – the GD needs to be able to motivate and guide the teams.
Key to this role is the ability of the GD to connect the brand requirements to the target audience, leveraging media tools and innovative thinking to uncover key insights to activate the media strategy for various campaigns throughout the planning year. It is expected that the candidate has a robust understanding of the digital ecosystem and can develop fluid cross channel media plans with digital playing a central role.

Qualifications:
• Strong client leadership, agency relations development and publisher collaborator

• Excellent presentation skills:
• Conveys thoughts, ideas, feelings and decisions in a clear, concise and appropriate manner. Demonstrates both good verbal and written skills + Is a good listener
Category experience:
• CPG experience is a plus
Management Experience:
• 6+ years’ experience managing and leading a team of passionate and dedicated media professionals across both generalist and digital areas (experience managing a large team is a plus)
Media Experience:
• Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in media planning/activation (ideally, experience in both strategic planning, digital strategy and activation)
• Knowledge with 3rd party research tools is essential in this role
• Strong ability to have intelligent conversations about data and measurement
• Must be proficient in media terminology, media math, calculations and KPI development.
