The Role
We are looking to hire an Account Director to join our Corporate team, overseeing several key accounts. A successful candidate will have a track record of counselling brands and organisations to tell their story across a range of channels and for a variety of audiences. This person will be a highly ambitious and proactive individual; motivated by the opportunity to own and shape their own areas of our work, and test their skills on both UK and global programmes. This person must be able to deliver strategic media relations, blending earned, owned, paid and social media, be an excellent team leader, create compelling content, and – crucially – have the ability to earn the trust of clients and be seen as a strategic partner.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing and developing client relationships, exhibiting best practice in client handling
Counselling clients confidently and maturely on communications marketing including PR, digital, social and content creation
Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including Creative, Digital, and Planning
Drive every aspect of creating and implementing innovative communications programmes
Writing PR plans, proposals and longer form PR materials, contributing to new business pitches and driving the development of pitch materials
Taking responsibility for a portfolio of accounts and managing teams, developing and coaching junior team members, and line management responsibilities
Crafting compelling newsworthy stories from client content, and maintaining strong network of contacts with the media.
Directing media engagement strategy for clients and coaching teams to activate and deliver coverage, leading from the front
Full responsibility for overall financial management – forecasting, hours allocation for team members, project & plan budgeting, managing servicing levels.
Identifying potential leads and areas of growth within existing clients as well as broader opportunities from a prospecting perspective
Overseeing quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence for junior members of teams, providing close coaching and development
Spot opportunities – for both your clients, and for the agency to provide support and creative thinking in new areas or to diversify campaigns
Leading new business pitches including developing RFI / RFP proposals, contributing media and creative ideas, strategy development and managing junior teams’ input
• A background in corporate PR with agency experience working across the B2B and B2C space
• Experience developing and implementing executive visibility campaigns
• Strong communications skills, verbal and written, able to develop high-quality strategy and positioning documents, messaging, client proposals, and editorial copy to tight deadlines
• The ability and experience to provide senior clients with clear, confident, and well-informed strategic counsel
• Ability to manage expectations against budgets / results
• A hands-on manager responsible for a portfolio of accounts, with the capability to think and apply solutions quickly
• Strong knowledge of UK business media landscape and digital platforms with network of contacts
• Ability to absorb information quickly and relay it in simple and engaging written and/or visual formats
• Ability to manage and coach junior members of an account team, and work effectively in a team structure
• Experience of multi-market coordination, working within integrated teams and across practices
• Creative, ambitious with good initiative with strong organisation and attention to detail
• The ability to effectively manage budgets and teams
• Excellent attention to detail and the highest standards of client service
• Organisation and time management skills honed by experience in managing multiple clients and workstreams simultaneously
• Passion for networking, both internally and externally, to develop contacts and generate new thinking and ways of working
• Experience working across agency teams, markets and outside partners to develop and implement creative integrated campaigns
