Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Strategy will help lead the strategy work stream for a multinational B2B and B2C tech account. You have demonstrated success and expertise in B2B and/or technology brands with knowledge around lengthy purchasing cycles that involve multiple influencers and buyers across a path-to-purchase. You have the curiosity, dedication, and drive to become an expert on the client’s brand, business, customers, and competitive landscape. You have a firm grasp of the marketing ecosystem and channels used for B2B and B2C tech communications and continuously seek out and actively use/apply new media channels, apps, technologies, tools, and methods. You have a successful track record of working as a partner with account and creative teams, developing a strong strategic POV for clients business, brand and products.
In addition to client responsibilities and new business work, the Strategy Associate Director will have specific responsibility for key projects within the department. This could be the growth of a new specialty, being a mentor or participating in organizational committees. These projects will be defined in line with a candidate’s interests, experience and what they want to pioneer within the department and the agency.
• Become an expert on client business, portfolio categories, consumers and value propositions, and consumers
• Identify, develop and deliver high-value interactive strategies, value proposition, competitive advantage, ROI analysis and market research findings to clients
• Write and deliver media strategies and oversee the translation of these strategies into the final media recommendations/plans
• Build, maintain and grow client relationships and client business. Analyze client’s strategies to lead business case development
• Command a comprehensive understanding of marketing communications which can be effectively translated into developing media goals, objectives, and strategies
• Serve as a collaborative member of the broader Wunderman Seattle Strategy & Analytics team, to include participating in and/or leading ideation, work sessions, creative development reviews, reporting, etc.
• Partner with client services to help diagnose business problems, identify strategic opportunities, define communications tasks, and draft materials for strategic and creative deliverables
• Become intimately familiar with all research tools, and how to use those tools to conduct discovery and provide synthesis and analysis on consumers, categories, brands, markets, industry trends, etc.
• Design thinker: Can think in big, overarching ideas, but can also focus on how to extend concepts into a system of communications that form an experience.
• Storyteller: Charismatic and eloquent orator who can package and articulate a complex story in a way that inspires various teams
• Strategic leadership: Conceive projects and author proposals, run projects, and make sure the team is on track and on strategy – all while encouraging creativity and problem solving. Must be a coach, a mentor and support system across disciplines
Qualifications
• 7+ years Digital Strategy & Activation experience, preferably from a media agency environment (integrated media planning experience a plus)
• Strong background in interactive work: DSPs, DMPs, Mobile innovations, OLV cross screen, data and analytics, etc.
• Strong experience in most, if not all things, digital advertising and marketing
• Technology and B2B experience
• Experience writing, editing or collaborating on marketing documents specifically communications planning deliverables and other related messaging frameworks
• Ability to inform, inspire and collaborate with account, analytics, research and creative teams
• Proven track record of pitching and securing projects with senior level clients
• Must have outstanding motivational and interpersonal skills
• Experience leading teams and manage junior team members and project inputs
EDUCATION and OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in marketing or business is a plus
• MBA or other relevant MA degree is a plus.
