Our Chicago office engages in client projects relating to a wide-range of industries including consumer, food and beverage, corporate, healthcare, and more. We are looking for an inspiring Research Director. We’re a passionate and close-knit team who fosters initiatives and who is committed to innovation and constant improvement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit coupled with a solid strategic mindset.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
• Lead quantitative and qualitative research projects from start to finish with a highly consultative mindset, working with Edelman account teams and clients to problem solve their challenges – analyzing data and delivering presentations
• Lead the development of research design, sampling plans, questionnaires, moderator guides and analytical plans
• Lead the analysis and interpretation of data and work closely with research executives to create a compelling ‘story’ that meets client objectives
• Be creative in designing visually compelling deliverables that clearly and concisely answer research objectives and provide value to the client including detailed findings, implications, and strategic recommendations
• Build and nurture relationships within Edelman, Edelman Intelligence colleagues and external clients
• Ask the right questions, understand the business objectives, and ultimately help to scope the right research that will have the most impact
• Contribute to the new business process through research, proposal development and pitch preparation
• Grow client business through insightful and valuable work product, understanding of client business
• Manage and mentor junior staff and assist with growing their skills
Qualifications and Experience: Research Director should
• Have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience
• Be able to balance an ever-changing and diverse range of research projects, including global and complex research projects involving: quantitative, qualitative research, media analysis and/or digital analytics
• Have experience in multi-methodological approaches
• Understand and have some experience with statistical analysis (e.g. Regression, Segmentation, MaxDiff, Conjoint)
• Be intellectually curious and use a consultative mindset to push the status quo
• Be proactive and comfortable diving right in; collaborative personality that is adept at relationship building with clients and colleagues
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage and mentor junior staff
• Extremely detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively express ideas and options in written and oral formats including in-person presentation
• Be an effective time manager and able to multi-task across multiple projects and prioritize time
• Be comfortable with managing project financials to ensure projects stay on budget
• Be a strategic thinker that understands marketing strategy and how to use research methods and analysis to deliver actionable findings for clients
• Be a strategic problem solver, curious and passionate, humble but ambitious
