Leadership
• As the chief collaborator, you are the glue and (positive) provocateur for bringing the best thinking and talent to the table across communities for every engagement.
• Responsible for not only building business, but also for growing the Catalyst community and the bonds/relationships with the Creators, Connectors and Explorers.
• Seamlessly integrate and act as an Ambassador for digital/social media and influencer capabilities in every engagement.
• Have financial acumen and understand what success of the agency and the businesses you oversee looks like.
• Generate $500,000-M$1 in new business wins or organic growth per year.
• Lead or be actively involved in business development and present a minimum of 5 new or organic business opportunities each year.
• Function as the last stop in taking responsibility for the agency’s successes and accountability for mistakes.
• Continuously raise the bar to develop yourself and your team:
◦ Set clear objectives and expectations for your team members based on your knowledge of client and agency business/objectives.
◦ Reward your team members for strong performance.
◦ Actively solicit feedback and educate yourself to improve your performance.
• Viewed as a strong, respected and inspiring leader by local office and agency leadership, internal team members, direct reports and client leadership.
• Define your success in the success of your direct reports.
• Create an environment that ensures the productive career development of your team members:
◦ Respect differing points of view.
◦ Maintain a sense of humor.
◦ Encourage curiosity and ongoing learning (especially digital and social).
Relationships
• Cultivate and maintain a productive client relationship at senior levels of the organization to enhance the sale of agency work.
• Earn and command, the respect and confidence of key client executives resulting in favorable agency feedback from the client.
• Have a finger on the pulse of your client’s business and client executives. Touching base with senior executives of the organization at least 3-4 times per year. This also includes engaging the top marketing executives as part of the Golin client satisfaction program.
• Offer unsolicited ideas, thinking and counsel that the client values.
• Continually merchandise the value of the agency to the client.
• Regularly seek client feedback on the agency’s performance and promote the agency’s accomplishments.
• Proactively address issues, obstacles or conflicts with your clients.
• Build client relationships beyond PR – marketing, digital, research and other internal teams.
Critical Thinking/Creativity
• Actively seek integrated (PR/social/digital/marketing) solutions for the clients business.
• Stimulate and challenge your team to deliver powerful programs for your client based on business goals, research and relevant insights.
• Use experience and forward-thinking to identify and calculate risk, and help guide your team and your clients through it to get to better work – the ability to “connect the dots.”
• Support your team in protecting the big idea.
Quality/Productivity
• Have the ultimate responsibility for profit and business growth for the Catalyst community.
• Have a proven track record of developing and presenting dynamic, charismatic and persuasive presentations.
• Have the ability to package ideas and feedback in a clear, logical and persuasive manner with any audience.
Knowledge & Skill
• Leverage and ensure that data/analytics and insights drive decision-making for planning and input to real-time engagement.
• Grow client remit beyond media relations or traditional PR.
• Actively participate in agency-wide learning program, “What’s your 24” and look for opportunities to lead programs.
• Expect, encourage and clear the path for your team to participate in “What’s your 24.”
• Have a clear understanding and knowledge of Golin’s proprietary programs and how to engage and activate those tools with existing and potential clients.
• Participate in IPG growth initiatives and have a clear understanding of CMG and IPG partners and how and when to engage them.
