Job Introduction
The purpose of the Global Strategy Director role is to:
• To lead and drive the implementation of the Carat developed Media First way of developing communications assets across the Diageo Luxury Reserve Portfolio* and the creation of a portfolio based communications model
• In doing so they are to become the go to person for Diageo Reserve Brand Team (GBT) when it comes to placing channel thinking at the heart of the creative development process AND the go to person for the Diageo & Carat markets to ensure that those creative assets are developed with market requirements and ROI in mind from the onset.
*Portfolio consists of the following brands: Johnnie Walker Super Deluxe, Cîroc, Don Julio, Tanqueray No. TEN, Ketel One vodka, Zacapa and Single Malts
Role Responsibility
To rapidly develop an indepth knowledge of the brands they are responsible for
To be the conduit between the Diageo GBTs and Diageo markets – bringing them closer together to collaboratively develop communication assets.
To do this they will…
• need to build a strong relationship with the GBT – becoming a key “must have” member of the team
• need to be prepared to challenge existing client thinking and behaviours to ensure a Media First way of thinking is embedded within Diageo as an organisation
• need to work closely with lead Carat strategist in our markets with constant open two way dialogue – becoming the voice of the markets to the GBT
• need to build strong collaborative relationships with creative agencies – challenge their thinking
Owner of the development, updating and usage of global playbooks for their brands
Development of communications architectures, deployment guidelines and KPIs for each GBT developed Growth Driver across selected proxy markets – making media first a central pillar of global toolkits
To feed market and brand needs into the central Carat Global Media Partnerships team in a timely and useful manner
Fully understand brand and channel ROI across all markets & tracking of centrally agreed KPIs
Work closely with Carat markets to become the driver of creating a test & learn culture across their brands
The Ideal Candidate
Relationship Management
• To have a clear passion for and proven history of strategic thinking on large / innovative clients: thinks out of the box in reference to presenting innovative solutions to client challenges and be prepared to challenge existing behaviours (client, creative agencies & markets)
• Relationship-builder: thinks and acts proactively to create regular contact opportunities; shares information, experience and insight with client to build trust and mutual respect; aims to attain position of Trusted Advisor to client;
• Solid understanding of the potential impact of each area of the Dentsu Aegis Network business on clients’ business & working closely with Global Strategy Partner and Client Lead to cross sell services
Commercial Acumen
• General understanding of business models and trends, particularly within the client sector;
• External market awareness: both in the media industry and client-specific challenges.
Strategy and product Skills
• Passion for the Digital economy
• Sound knowledge of all Dentsu Aegis Network services;
• Strong marketing, media and communications concepts, models, skills, practices, tools, frameworks, etc.;
• Able to clearly articulate the role of Bought, Owned and Earned (BOE) media to address a specific client challenge;
• Good understanding of holistic digital media concepts, propositions, Dentsu Aegis Media digital services;
• Ability to analyse numerical data and pull out reasonable and rational conclusions to underpin innovative strategic plan which is based on ROI.

• Excellent communicator: verbal, written, presentation, listening skills with internal and external senior stakeholders and with other Carat markets;
• High level of attention to detail with all outputs.
