Description
Edelman has an excellent opportunity for a VP, Human Resources to be a member of the Canadian leadership team and global HR Leadership Team (HRLT). The HR Business Partner is responsible for ensuring the Canadian business has the right talent, capabilities and engagement to achieve its objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as HR subject matter expert and partner to Canadian leadership, working with them on all HR issues/opportunities related to recruiting, developing, retaining and ultimately engaging talent
• Help to co-create within the global HRLT and then interpret/tailor global HR programs, best practices and process improvements for the Canadian business: including talent management, L&D, employee engagement, organization design and compensation strategy
• Support internal clients and stakeholders with effective team-building, performance management and culture initiatives both proactively and reactively
• Recommend and approve solutions for addressing poor performance or behavior and for motivating, developing and retaining talent
• Consistently measure program effectiveness, utilizing analytics as needed
• Exhibit good project, time and people management skills
Client/Stakeholder Engagement:
• Provide HR perspective and insight to help adapt, shape, and implement processes which align with business strategies, appropriately maintaining confidentiality
• Provide insightful guidance to proactively, influence business decisions
Business and Project Management:
• Consistently execute deliverables within budget and on time, using resources appropriately and by following policies and communication protocols
• Help ensure financially sound recommendations on staffing and other business programs, consistently tying HR activity to overarching business objectives
Talent Acquisition:
• Allocate time to expanding professional network of internal and external contacts to recruit, improve or market the Edelman brand and attract top talent
• Coordinate, support and/or participate in interview, recruiting and onboarding processes to ensure candidates and employees of all levels and specialties are effectively integrated
Talent Development:
• Help leaders manage talent by providing timely and constructive objective setting, development planning and appraisals, as well as by facilitating appropriate training
Collaborative Accountability:
• Drive better results by establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships in the French office and in the European HR network
• Uphold ethical and legal standards and best practice

Qualifications:
• Able to recommend approaches to company initiatives, policies and processes with strong knowledge of Canadian labour laws and ER requirements
• Strong business acumen with excellent communication, influencing, consulting and presentation skills
• Able to lead multiple projects and talent programs within a matrix organization and to prioritize appropriately under pressure
• Possess subject matter expertise in compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, training and development and organizational development
• At least ten years relevant HR experience
