Description
We are looking for an Account Director with expertise in Consumer Health Brands communications.
The successful candidate for this role will be able to apply the right level of creativity and media expertise, to tell compelling stories about patients and consumers health and well-being. You will be able to mix creativity and science to engineer impactful informative experiences that inspire action and positive outcomes. You will know the appropriate Brand ambassadors to target as speakers, authors and media spokespeople.
This is an exciting and challenging role that will require the candidate to have a substantial amount of relevant consumer health experience in the earned media space and be familiar with inter-agency brand planning, global account planning and strategising. You will have a proven track record of building strong client and team relationships and will demonstrate a can-do attitude. The successful candidate should provide evidence of exerting strategic influence and creativity on existing client work. Excellent written work is a must. An understanding of working on a global brand, or working for a large brand house, would be beneficial.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player; a collaborative spirit is required with the team at Edelman, the client and inter-agency teams. As such the successful candidate, will have a proven track record of building strong client and team relationships and will demonstrate a can-do attitude. Previous experience in FMCG, Beauty, Consumer Healthcare, Brand Partnerships and creative communications campaign development skills are preferred.

Specific job requirements:
In this role, we expect you to be competent in the following areas:
Client relations
• Provide high-value strategic counsel capable of retaining your existing client set and converting new prospects to clients
• Manage financial planning for the account, ensuring forecast is converted and resourcing requirements are effective for client needs
• Promote a ‘client-first’ approach, leading your account teams and working highly collaboratively across the business and integrating specialisms of Creative, Digital, and Planning into client account teams
• Develop creative solutions to a number of client-business challenges
Communications marketing
• Able to be creative within compliance guidelines to produce innovative and dynamic programmes with social at their heart
• Manage and build strong relationships with tier one journalists and influencers
• Develop high level strategic communications responses to briefs
• Write regular press releases, articles and other pitch materials
• Participate in pitch development and delivery, driving excellence in this area
Business Development
• Create a pipeline of marketplace intelligence into the team to support prospecting opportunities and generating innovative routes to market
• Act as a knowledge manager for the team, responsible for key resources, (e.g., Edelman IP, cases, capabilities, etc.) and promote “best practices” and methodologies
Operations
• Contribute to the development of initiatives designed to improve profitability and staff utilisation levels across the practice, and designed to meet over-servicing targets
• Contribute to the development of a programme of differentiating IP and Brand initiatives capable of driving a new business strategy and fame for the business
Essential Skills and experience:
Client Service - play a major role in the research, planning and development of comprehensive communications campaigns as part of an inter-agency team; help set client programme goals and manage against them; serve as daily client contact and as client lead when appropriate
Account management / operations – Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence. Help mentor, coach and support team members and ensure you and the junior team are constantly developing abilities
Communications marketing – Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations, including creating and driving outreach plans, message development, management of events, effective pitching and media training and networking. Demonstrate excellent writing skills to craft internal and client correspondence, communications plans, pitches, media materials, and new business proposals. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends and demonstrate understanding of how they integrate into communications programs
Content / social – Demonstrate practical and advanced understanding of visual communications, social media and the digital landscape and how to incorporate these channels into client programmes. Generate original ideas for sustainable online community engagement, help integrate them into plans, measure and evaluate them to ensure they contribute to client goal achievement
Financial Planning and Management – Demonstrate understanding of core financial constructs including revenue, profitability, pricing structures (hourly vs. retainer accounts), budgeting and forecasting
