The Associate Director of UX combines stellar user experience architecture & analytical skills with creative thinking. They are experts at generating ideas based on a project/creative brief, sketching those ideas and bringing them to life digitally. User Experience Architects are extremely passionate about the user experience and are unwavering advocates for the user.
The Associate Director of UX manages multiple projects in tandem with a multi-disciplinary team, estimates the level of effort with the Project Manager, and creates site architecture deliverables: wireframes, user flows, site maps, etc. This individual will also lead a team, develop usability test plans, performance management reports and make sure that all milestones are met within the timeline agreed upon by the Project Manager and Director of UX.
Responsibilities:
• Designing solutions that meet or exceed strategic objectives
• Creating highly usable interface solutions focused on user experience
• Leading a project or group of projects with limited input from an Art Director
• Guiding and directing up to 4 designers with thorough delegation, follow-up and mentoring
• Rationalizing solutions with the project team and clients
• Balancing creative requirements with client business requirements
• Designing: mood boards; storyboards; interactive page layouts; site grids and interface demos; photo retouching and enhancements; animated GIFs
• Providing quality assurance on creative deliverables
• Building and maintaining a team rapport with creative team personnel, account managers, & project managers
◦ Visualize and verbalize your ideas to team and client
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree preferred, with multidisciplinary backgrounds such as psychology, computer science, information sciences, human/computer interaction or commerce/business
• At least 4 years' related industry experience in UX, information technology, communications, or library/information science
• At least 3 years experience in the role of senior user experience architect, user experience lead, information architect lead or information design lead
• Experience applying research and analysis to site development
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in a variety of written and diagrammatic forms
• Proven interpersonal skills, client relation skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Proven creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proven understanding of and experience with: user-centered design techniques; development of organizational/structural concepts for Web site; project processes for the development of large scale Web site projects; documentation requirements for Web development teams; application of content management, personalization, targeting and searching systems
• High proficiency in the use of MS Office, Visio, OmniGraffle and Axure
• Thorough, detail-oriented and highly organized, plus ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
• Preferably, experience with: software development process/business analysis; user research, usability practices and testing
